View Full Version : Is this car seat any good?
We are looking to get MIL a car seat so she can take Matt on occasion :thumb2:
Is this car seat any good? I like the price (duh!) and the reviews look good but just wondering. Thanks! (we're not looking to get anything fancy or expensive since she won't be taking him every day or anything.)

 Yea, my idea of duct tape a bubble wrap still sounds good. And cheap!
Whoops...added it to the OP

I did not even need to look at it when I saw it's a Cosco brand. I wouldn't buy that carseat for any low price. They have the most recalls...at least they have in the past. That's the one brand I refuse to buy and avoid at all cost.
Just my opinion.

I can't see it, don't know why. Have you tried looking on Amazon for a good deal?

Didn't know this! Thanks!
We have hand me down carseats so I haven't had to buy one except for the snug ride.

If you're looking for a more affordable, decent seat, we have the Evenflo Titan Elite for Andrew. It's not horrible -- the straps sometimes get twisted, but it works and was the cheapest one at Target without being a "cheap" one, if that makes sense!

All carseats have to meet safety standards, so keep that in mind. They can't sell something that is unsafe/does not meet the requirements. :)

I have that Cosco. I do check for recalls on their products because overall, Cosco has had some problems. But we use it for the same as you're looking to do Jo, as a grandma extra for the times she's driving him around. I feel comfortable with it.

I do like it. It's easy to put in and get the kids in and out of.
My only drawback to it is that it doesn't do the tilt thing that I like for when they fall asleep.

They sell unsafe things all the time. That's why there are so many recalls. "They" being most companies. They don't recall until a certain amount of accidents and/or deaths occur.
Well I'm assuming that if you get into a car accident no car seat is going to keep your child completely safe. It's an accident. **** happens. We have a britax now that was used by 2 other kids so I am probably putting my child in danger every time I drive down the road.
Thanks for the input. I think I'll get it for my MIL's car. :)

Right, and even the best companies have recalls. Look at Toyota.

I never said good companies don't have recalls. And believe me, I do look at Toyota. Because of that fiasco, my husband took a huge pay cut at his work to compensate Toyota's loss. ;)
Are we all PMSing today?

No. I'm good :) Hotter than hell, but good. It's 104 at the moment. But we're packing for Vegas, baby! :hula:
well the seat is out of stock now so I guess it wasn't meant to be. Thanks everyone!
