I meant to post this the other day but things have been a little hectic here lately...
Ben finally went for allergy tests this week (my DH is allergic to peanuts so my doctor wanted Ben tested to make sure he wasn't allergic too). They tested him for peanuts, pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews and walnuts. All were negative! :hula:
I'm going to hold off on having peanut products in the house because I don't trust Ben to not touch things when he's eating them (like peanut butter on his hands then on to the handles on the kitchen cupboards or something). He can have it at my mom's or when he's out somewhere though.
I know the chances of him having the allergy weren't that high but it's such a relief to know that right now we don't have to worry about it. He may develop an allergy later in life but for now we're good. :twothumbs:

Awesome! :hula::hula: I cannot imagine a childhood without peanut butter!
Yay!!
Now let those PBJ sandwiches begin (life is really easier with one.)

I dont' think I could survive without peanut butter. When we were looking at countries in Europe to live in two of my requirements were that they have easily accessible peanut butter and ketchup!

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are one of my favourite things ever and I've had to stop eating them since I was pregnant with Ben. Nobody knows if eating peanuts could have transfered to the baby while pregnant (or while nursing) so to be on the safe side it's suggested to keep them out of your diet. It sucks. I'm pretty used to it now but I do have PB&B sandwiches every now and then when I'm at my mom's. :hehe: I used to keep a jar of peanut butter at my desk when I was working so I could eat it there without fear of contaminating anything. ;)

So glad they were negative!! How bad is your Dh's allergy? My (ex) boss's son almost died one day at preschool because they had served pb&j (he didn't eat it) and a kid had kissed him on the lips a couple of hours later. It sent him into anaphalactic (sp) shock! I too am a peanut butter lover. Can't imagine life without it!
I'm worried about allergies with our two too. So far Cohen seems to be okay with all foods, but he does seem to have some seasonal allergy stuff. We'll see about Aven. My dh had severe allergies to tons and tons of stuff growing up and had to do the allergy shots for years, and I've read that it's hereditary and that it can pass down to an allergy to anything. In other words, dh's allergies which were never food allergies can pass down as food allergies to the kids. I thought that was interesting.

Fortunately my DH isn't severely allergic (right now he just vomits if he ingests peanuts) but it can turn into a severe allergy at any time. Any exposure, even minute, can increase the severity until it reaches a deadly level. He carries an epi pen just in case because you never know when it can happen. Luckily it's only peanuts and not other nuts so he doesn't have to be quite as worried about exposure.
