Ok ladies,

I have a pretty good night time routine going. I bathe Matthew, nurse him and rock him to sleep (trying to get a book in there but he screams so loud sometimes that I just can't.)

So I know it clicks in his head that it's time to go to sleep after this since we've been doing this from the beginning (well minus the rocking part since we co-slept for a bit.)

Well, I need a day time routine so it clicks that it's nap time. I was thinking of giving him a quick bath with just water so he thinks it's night time. I am trying to push his night time routine later but can't since he's so exhausted by 7.

So what are some thing I can do before his nap that will help him to understand that it's nap time? Something I can do every day RAIN OR SHINE!

Thanks!

I used to rock Eli for nap time too. But I didn't put him in his crib. I put him in his bouncy seat and kept him out in the living room where it was bright and noisy. I would run the sweeper around him and everything... It wasn't till he was like 8months did I start puting him in his crib for nap time.

Hope you can figure him out something! WAY TO GO on the bedtime!! That is GREAT!:hula:

Maybe a story, a song, and some cuddles? Charlie's routine is now cuddle/fight with mom pass out

Wait until he can flip himself over and sleep on his tummy and observe the magic switch :hehe: That's ll that worked here. EASY routine, I was not so good at, though I know others got fantastic results. I did my own variation. I put Lily in the moby after the same feeding (so a range since I do it on demand) every day, since I can get her to sleep in there. Then, I started trying the crib. I would go in when she cried if she wanted her pacifier back and did a minimal cry it out a couple of times (about 10-15 mins is all I could take). Now, I think we're finally on to something with her belly, we're at over 2 1/2 hours today!!

Good luck Jo!! :support:

I always put Annie to sleep with the Baby Einstein "Lullaby Classics" CD playing. We also had baby massage (Johnson & Johnson's Nighttime Baby Massage Gel is the bomb) before nursing, and I sang her a special song I made up for her. Massage is a GREAT way to bond, and it makes you both feel good. Give it a try! Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I like the lullaby cd idea. I had a cd with classical music to lull him to sleep and he screamed through it though but I'll try it again :) And I laid him on his belly today and he conked out but I couldn't leave him like that I'd be too scared. He can roll from his back to his side now :hehe:

Today he woke up at 5:30 and went back down at 8:30 and woke up at 10:30 woohoo! I rocked him, read him a book and fed him and I did the same for his 3pm nap and he slept for 4 fricken hours!!

I just got a chick and chickens (or vice versa) lullaby exercise dvd for mom and baby and am going to start that.

I do a similar routine to his bedtime routine without the bath. I used to try music or an ocean cd, but the variation disturbed him or when the cd would start over sometimes he'd wake up. I found the best thing was this noisey humidifier that sounds like a fan. LOVES the white noise! Try it! I turn that on at nap time, sit in the rocker with him and give him his blankie and binky. Then I read him a couple books. After the books, I turn his crib aquarium on with the remote so I don't have to get up, lay him down in my arms and sing softly while I feed and rock him. After the feeding I put the binky back and rock him a couple more minutes and then put him in his crib. I tell him "it's sleepy time...nite nite...I Love you" every time. ;)
