Hi Ladies,
So I get the opportunity at times to work from home (about 75% of my work is travel and therefore out of the home, and 25% is office work so I write reports, conference calls, etc). Well my Mom, who lives about 50 miles away, and only about 10 miles from where DH works, will watch Andrew for us, which has been FANTASTIC. But, like today, DH has to work 1-9, and usually I'm already traveling for work so I will go get Andrew after I'm done with work so we try to keep his routine as much as possible. Well, today is an office day, and I just can't justify putting 100+ miles on my car in the evening to pick him up from my Mom's so I kept him home. Now here's the problem. He's awake more during the day, stays content for maybe 10 minutes and is more of a snacker (I am still BFing) and then a 30-minute napper. I want to be able to interact with him like my Mom does during the day, but I can't always stop every 10 minutes and tend to him, as it can break my concentration.
Right now, I have him in his crib (which is in the same room as our home office/my computer due to our small space) and have his mobile and crib soother on, as well as some of his toys that he generally enjoys. I figured the crib is at least a place for containment and I can just look over my shoulder a check on him periodically.
Other mamas who work from home or just SAHM's that try to get work away from baby done, and have done it with a 6-month old.... what are your tips? I hope I'm not doing something someone would be vehemently against, but I do want to do things that are beneficial for Andrew. It's not like I ignore him by any means, I mean he's definitely more fun than working, but I need to get work done too, as my job/income is what's paying for the mortgage and health insurance.
Thanks ladies!
