For Sam's birthday, we are getting him a bed. If I am not very lucky, he may outgrow his toddler bed BEFORE February! As it is, he barely fits with all his toys that he sleeps with!!

We have two choices:

1. His crib converts into a headboard and footboard for a double/full-sized bed. We would have to buy bed rails (the kind that go along the bottom to attach the headboard and footboard) because it didn't come with the bed.

OR

2. In our guest room, which will become baby #2's room, we have a queen-sized bed that is less than 3 years old and barely used. We haven't figured out WHAT we are going to do with this bed when the baby is ready for the nursery. So, what if we moved that bed into Sam's room (with a boy-friendly bed set) and put just a twin sized bed in the guest room with the baby's crib and stuff for guests (besides my mom, who would sleep with Sam).

On one hand, Sam is going to be tall like his father. He already is. I was planning on buying him a bed that would last til he moves out for college - so using a queen might be good because he'll always have plenty of room. Plus, I could then use his crib over again for Baby #2.

On the other hand, is a queen too big for him? Will that be too much of a change? What if he feels like the baby's getting his bed (mind you, it will be a while before we use the crib - it'll go into the attic for 6 months or so). And, can I find cute, kid-friendly bedding for a queen bed?

What do y'all think?

I don't know...I'd be scared to put him in a queen sized bed. It's huge! I'd probably stick to a twin if I were you.

If you still want to go the route of the queen sized bed I think the company store makes queen sized bedding for kids but not sure.

I actually found the perfect set with a comforter and sheet set for a great price, available in queen/full. Exciting!

Jo, I just think a twin would be uncomfortable for him in another 2 years. I had a double bed as a child, so maybe that's it.

Well you know Sam best. I would have loved a queen as a child! Matt loves our queen so I'd assume other kids would too :hehe:

I would give him the bigger bed. We're going to take the side off of Aidan's crib soon, but I think we've decided that by 2.5 years, she'll have a regular twin bed. Dylan never had a toddler bed. Ever.

I know a lot of kids who go from a crib to a queen. It's all about how comfortable you are with him in a tall bed.

I personally would just a full for Conner first. That being said he gets up and down from my queen size bed perfectly. And if you had some railings or something to prevent him from falling I think a queen would be fine.

I would just do the queen. There is little difference between a full and a queen anyway, so you may as well just go for the bigger one that will last longer.

I'd do the queen too. It just makes sense to me.

Emma was in a queen at 15 months. So i don't see a problem with him going into it..

I would just go with the bed that you have. I'm sure he will fill it up with toys and stuffed animals :)) and he will have plenty of room.
