View Full Version : 2 month shots?
Can I give tylenol before he gets his shots?
If I can should I give it to him 30 min before or what is the protocol? Or should I just wait until after.
The worst part about this is I have to go alone :(

Oh I am sorry you have to go alone. :(
You can give it to him before his appointment, like before you leave the house or whatever. That's what I always did with Conner.

I always give Averie hers while we're in the waiting room. That way by the time we get called back, get her weighed and the doctor does the exam it's been about a half hour by the time the nurse comes in with the dreaded needles.
Sorry you have to go alone. If it's any consolation I have never, ever had anyone along at doctor's appointments except other kids.

You can do it before. I'm sorry you have to go alone. At least you won't have DH there laughing during the shots like mine was at our 4 month appt

Jo!
I am sorry you are going by yourself!
I also read somewhere that sugar water can ease the pain of vaccination. If you want you can check it here (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/04/AR2008020401037.html) and here (http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080205/vaccinations_080205/20080205?s_name=medExpress2007)
Hope it goes smoothly and he doesnt feel any pain
Thanks ladies! At his 1 month I was there with DH but I think DH freaked cause he kinda shoved me towards the table to hold his hand. :eyeroll:

I always cried when Annie got her shots more than she did!! DEFINITELY give Tylenol beforehand...30 minutes is the best. Give him another dose 6-8 hours afterward (whatever they recommend on the bottle). I also took an ice pack to put on Annie's arm/leg after each shot. That seemed to help, too.
Just remember...it hurts you more than it hurts him!!

Ditto to right before you leave the house, that's what we usually do. The waiting room would work too. Good luck!! :support:
I usually did it once we got there while waiting. The first couple times dh went with me, but after that I always took him myself and he would cry for less than a minute after the pokes and be fine. Good luck! ;)
