I'm making a list of preschool/elementary level books for Sam's Mimi so that she knows what to buy him for Christmas. We've got lots of Little Golden Books and Bright and Early Readers, but I'm looking for good story/picture books.
Stellaluna and No, David! are two I know I want for Sam. What others do y'all have/love/wish you had??
* We really like Chrystanthemum, Where the Wild Things Are, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie - we got those last year.
Don't let the pigeon drive the bus

Ben is really into Busytown books right now. Either with or without a story we can read them for ages. Without a story we make up something and talk about what the people on the pages are doing.
My sister has a book called The Bare Naked Book which is hilarious. I think it's supposed to be serious but we laugh our asses of when we read it. It's really quite cute.

Alice got this book from the library that she really liked (over... and over... and over...) called Smitten. About a sock and a mitten becoming friends.
And she likes "The Seals on the Bus". And "The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too!".

Shelby absolutely LOVES the "I Spy" books, where they have a picture with a bunch of things in it, and then on the opposite page have certain items to look for. It has words with it, too. She spends 15 minutes looking through those books.
She also loves the "How are You Peeling?" and "One Little Seahorse" by Saxton Freymann (sp?) Those books have the most adorable pictures. They use actual fruits and vegetables, so it helps them identify those too. The artist is amazing.

I love the I Spy books. :hehe: Seriously, I love them. My sister has a bunch that were my nephew's and I'd look through them when I was stuck on the couch nursing Thomas. They kept me occupied, kept me awake and made the 30+ minute feedings in the early days go by fast. :twothumbs:
At Costco I saw similar books that were done by the photographer of the I Spy books but they weren't quite the same. We're heading there tomorrow so I'm hoping they're still there so I can pick them up.
