What do you do to prevent mosquito bites?

What do you do to treat mosquito bites?

I have heard and read many natural remedies. So I'm curious what has worked for you.

I usually use a spray bottle with water and some lavender oil to spray on me before going outside, it seems to work pretty well.

If I do get bit by something I apply a drop of lavender oil to the bite and it relieves the itch. I've also used my aloe vera plant and rub a bit on the area.

I'm looking for something safe non-chemical to use for Ava. You aren't supposed to use undiluted essential oil on children, so I would love some ideas. Poor Ava has a few bites on her and they look terrible!

Do you think it's ok to use the diluted spray on her?
What can I put on the bites that she has?

I have no idea but I'd love to find out what others have to say. When we were at my sister's cottage last weekend I had to resort to Off because the bugs were eating Ben (all of us, actually) alive. The poor kid still has 2 big bites on the side of his face but they don't seem to be bothering him.

My mom always used calamine lotion. That nasty pink stuff.

I know they have some natural bug sprays. They smell God awful and not really sure if they work. California baby makes one (I haven't smelled this one though)

I have ordered from this site and they are very good!

I forgot about this website...

Search for insect repellent and a list will come up along with their safety ratings. :twothumbs:
