Are your kids planning to make or prepare anything for Father's Day?

Have any of your Mommy&Me classes given you good ideas for Father's Day crafts?

Please share!;)

You can always do salt dough handprints (recipe here (http://www.naturalfamilyonline.com/5-bc/45-salt-dough.htm)). That's what we did for Annie's first Father's Day gifts. Also, go get a small wooden box and have the kids tear up paper and decoupage it as a "catch-all" for keys, change, etc. I also made thumbprint/handprint designs on t-shirts with fabric paint! No idea what we're doing this year, though...

I'm not sure what I am gonna do. I'd love to do something that Conner can "make' him. I was thinking of getting him a game or something he will enjoy, and wants. I want him to know what it feels to have a day about him and to feel special so he can learn for my next Mother's Day! lol

Bill is very patriotic, so I'm going to get a black t-shirt and paint an American flag on Annie's hand with fabric paint, and let her make a "flag handprint" over Bill's heart. That should do it!! :D

FYI - the way I did "masculine" t-shirts for the guys in Annie's life was by taking masking tape and making various thicknesses of lines across the front, some diagonal, and others going side to side and up and down, and let her cover them with handprints in various colors like black, green, blue (masculine stuff). I made one with red & black for my Dad (he loves the Georgia Bulldogs)...take off the masking tape, and voila'! A masterpiece! I also got fabric letters and put their "names" on the back (ie. Daddy, Grandpa, and Pop Pop), so they were like team jerseys. They get a LOT of wear!!!!

We're going to do handprint poems from the kids. They'll each have their handprints on a page with a daddy poem underneath, and they'll be framed. I'm going to attempt to have Tyler decorate the frames, but we'll see if that works or if they'll just be plain frames. And I think I'm going to get him one of those mutli-unit charging station things, that holds his keys and wallet too. He clutters up the kitchen counter, he has a personal cell & a work phone and all his other crap. I'll probably also make his favorite cookies, it's been awhile. Other than that, I don't know what we'll do on the actual day- probably go to the beach like we did on Mother's day. :))

You know, come to think...the best present I ever gave Bill was right after Annie was born. I took a picture of Bill's hand with Annie's in it...and then double-matted it next to the "Daddy's Hands" poem. He still loves it. May be more effective with girls, though...

Yeah, we did the daddy hands things as a new daddy gift each time. Anything involving the kids is usually a win :))

Almost every year I get stuck for great Father's Day Gifts, this year I’m getting anything for the ipod/iphone - a new case, gift certificate to itunes, or speaker docking station for his office. I think golf lessons would be appreciated. And my daughter will be doing a boxy pouch for DH.... it looks like something that my dad used for all his shaving gear on a trip.

"We're" (read - me :hehe:) making Daddy a crown and a card. I grabbed a bunch of stuff from the dollar store the other day so we'll see how it goes. Ben should be able to stick the jewels on the crown (they're just cheap plastic gem looking things) and I'll add the rest of the stuff. I made him a card last year with an outline of Ben's hand on the inside and he loved it. He's still got it sitting on his desk.

Ashley, I love the hand poem idea!!! Maybe next year I'll do it for him! :twothumbs:

Oh, and Leah, that is the sweetest thing! I was all teary by the time I was done reading it...

I scrapped the t-shirt idea after I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and they had all their unfinished wood items on sale for crazy cheap...so I got little square picture blocks that turn on a Lazy Susan, and has storage in the middle with a little lid on it. We are going to paint them blue and put Annie's hand print on top of the box.

and Leah...that poem (and picture) are GREAT!!!

Averie will be giving her a mold of her hand and foot (like this: http://www.castingkeepsakes.com/3d-life-casting-kits-c-1.html) and a card.

The older kids will all give him a card and a gift that they picked out.

I will also get him a card and a gift (usually some sort of gift certificate) and I'll make him a nice dinner (usually steak). Oh, and probably sex since that's usually all he wants really.
