So I have 3 kids and am breastfeeding pretty much for the first time with Miss Aliyah. It's going GREAT. It doesn't really hurt, my milk is in, she's eating a lot, but I'm realizing I'm totally going into this blind.

Currently what I'm doing is I start on one breast, let her feed until she stops, burp her and then switch. Then next time I start on the breast I ended with in prior feeding.

Is this right? Or should I be doing a certain amount of time on each breast? What other advice can you give me?

That works and a lot of people do it that way. I used to keep going on the same breast after a burp to make sure they got the hind-milk but starting on the same one you left off on works too.

Glad to hear it's going well! :hula:

So glad it's going so well!! :hula: What you're doing is what a lot of people do, so if it's working for you, then keep it up! I've always only nursed on one side per session, also to make sure that baby was getting the hindmilk. But I would offer Aven the other side in the beginning and she wouldn't ever take it. Basically the hind milk is the thicker, fattier milk that makes baby gain weight. Some women's hindmilk comes out faster than others. My babies have alway been very efficient at getting to the hindmilk pretty quickly, and both really only nursed about 10 minutes per session. Anyway, you're doing great! Keep up the good work Mama! :hugs:
