I used to have eczema from allergies when I was like 8 or 9, I'd get it in the creases of my knees and elbows mostly.
Last winter when I was pregnant, I had an itchy area where my butt joined my thigh that got all scaly and scabby like mild eczema for a while and then went away, then came back, then went away, etc... and that area has been intermittently itchy every since and occasionally gets really nasty and dry and scabby like it is now. It's pretty obviously eczema so..how do I treat it? I don't really want to pay $30 for a dermatologist appt right now

I use coconut oil on mine. It helps. Aquaphor helps too. But the best stuff is the cream that I get from my doctor. I don't have any either right now and I have a patch on my elbow that is driving me nuts.

Coconut oil is pretty much the best thing for everything.
Otherwise I seem to remember reading somewhere that aquafor and some sort of wash (cetaphil??) worked wonders.

I use a body cream called CeraVe, which was recommended by a dermatologist for Sam's eczema. She also said it would work well on my rosacea, and I use it instead of prescriptions.
Amazon.com has some wonderful reviews. I buy it at CVS, but it is a bit pricey. I think that I paid about $15 for 16 oz. but it goes on very well, gets absorbed without leaving the residue that I always feel with Aquaphor, and doesn't appear to have any smell.
You might be able to find it cheaper at another retailer off the shelf, or maybe in a smaller size, or you might be able to purchase it from Amazon because it's cheaper there, too.

Oh, yeah. For us, the 16 oz. tub is almost a year's worth, just using it to treat his eczema and my rosacea. It might not last as long if you use it as your general-purpose lotion, but it is very thick and creamy and I don't use as much as I would something like an Aveeno lotion or a St. Ives to get the same benefits.
We use Dove Sensitive and aquaphor. Best thing out there for that. ;)
