crappppp. I took one because I was desperate.
I think it could cause your milk to dry up or something? But obviously 1 pill isn't going to do much...
It has ibruprofen in it and I took 800mg of that a few times and my LC said it was fine and my OB prescribed it for after giving birth. I think it also has caffeine in it but I'm not sure.
I think you'll be fine and so will little dude.
ETA: It might also cause drowsiness in you which MIGHT cause drowsiness in the baby...not always a bad thing ;)

I take Tyelnol sinus severe pain with no issues, I think the ibuprofen in the advil is the issue with BFing

Late post...but FYI sudafed can cause supply issues if you have low supply....sudafed is in those sinus medications usually.

You are probably fine. Ibuprofen is absolutely okay. I'm nost sure what else is in there, but the older the baby, the less likely it is to affect them. Also thbey recommend not taking meds that have multiple active ingredients, but again, probably won't hurt him at this age.

I know this is late, but you can take most Tylenol and Sudafed products. They still recommend that you watch the behavior of the baby while on the medication. You can always call or visit your local pharmacist (at Walgreens, CVS or the grocery store) and they can always help you with choosing a medication.
I always heard a lot of those mess can and will decrease supply.

Another late post...
http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/aap-approved-meds.html
Decongestants and cough meds are listed as an L3 which seem to be safe. It doesn't say anything about causing supply issues but I have heard/read of many women who have had problems after taking something for their cold.

I didn't read your kellymom link Elaine, but that's where I got all of my cold medicine info (that and Dr. Hale). Anyway, the old med that used to be used in most of the decongestants is the one they thought caused milk supply issues (pseudophedrine maybe?), but now most of them contain a different active ingredient that I can't remember right off the top of my head. Dr. Hale says there's really no evidence of either of them causing problems and to just watch baby and milk supply when taking them. If I take something that I notice is going to affect my supply I'll just pop some Fenugreek that day as well and have never had any problems.

I remember reading something about that (different med now being used) too but I have no idea where I read it. :hehe: I'm going by what other moms have said about their supply taking a dip after taking cold or allergy meds. I rarely take anything because they tend to **** me up so bad (I swear, it's like I'm high and sudafed is the worst :hehe:) so I have no experience.

I completely understand. I have been taking a Claritin D most mornings because I'm having horrible allergy problems. They make me feel like I've done some uppers or something! Except this morning I had to take a Benedryl, and now I'm about to pass out....zzzzzzzzzz
