Anyone have any experience with weight gain AFTER you stop an anti-depressant? I thought I was pregnant because of the weight gain and swollen fingers, but now I'm at a loss. I haven't been eating any differently (maybe a little around Christmas, but not in the last couple of weeks) and I just keep gaining a pound or two a week! The only thing different is that I quit the AD. Any thoughts? It ain't cool, that's for sure.

Well...I tried looking it up but I can only find articles on How to avoid weight gain WHILE taking anti-depressants. :hehe: Sorry, I have no advice...Have you talked to your Dr about it? Maybe it IS the holidays catching up with you...they sure are catching up with me!

Yes, I'd always heard about weight gain while on them too. I'll talk to my doc at my next appt in Feb. when I inform her I stopped the meds. I know, bad me, but I know she would've been fine with it and knew how to wean so figured there was no reason to call her office, leave a message for her nurse, have him call me back, relay to her, blah blah blah. You get the picture. Anyway, thanks girl.

I know a lot of women who LOST weight while on anti-depressants. Perhaps the drug was having some sort of metabolic effect, or suppressing your appetite, and now that you are off it, the weight gain is a re-balancing of your weight? I guess that's not an encouraging point of view. But I do know quite a few women who lost weight on anti-depressants.

Interesting Lauren. Maybe that's what was going on, idk. I do need to get to the doc though. I still am having weird things that have only happened when I've been pregnant. Now it's my arms going numb and tingly when I'm sleeping. The only times this happens is when I'm pregnant. Something's definitely going on with my screwy body.

That sucks. The tingly arms part. I get it, too.
You should go see a doctor - and KUP!!!
