I think I jinxed myself. I said just yesterday that Averie has been doing great with teething and was barely fussy at all. Well, the weather is finally warming up to the low 80s here and she's got 3 more teeth that are this >< close to breaking through the gumline. Poor thing is so crabby today. She's finally sleeping in the swing right now but I am sure it will be another one of her typical power naps. I just wish there were more I could do for her. I have given her orajel, chilled teething rings, rubbed her gums with my fingers (she LOVES that but I can only do that for so long), gave her a frozen washcloth to chew on...you name it and I've tried it.

You're doing everything right...I have a few other things you may want to try:

1. Hyland's Teething Tablets:
http://www.hylands.com/products/teething.php
You can get them anywhere, and they are 100% natural. I'd pop a few into Annie's bottles when I gave them to her. The other option is to put it under their tongue...yeah, right. This works wonders for some kids, but for others, it does nothing. Like I said...they are completely homeopathic, so no harm, no foul.

2. If Averie is on cereals, try giving her a teething biscuit or a piece of Zwieback toast to gnaw on. Zwieback is the best, because the rough texture actually helps the teeth to break through the gums.

3. Okay, everyone is going to think that I'm nuts, BUT...this old-time remedy worked for me with Annie: Catnip & Fennel drops. My Mom used them on me, and her mom on her, and so on and so on. It sounds insane, but THEY WORK. Even now, if Annie is fussy, she gets some juice with a dropper-full of Catnip and Fennel...and she calms within minutes. Annie never had colic, never fussed, and teething was a breeze (I used the Hyland's with the Catnip & Fennel). I really can't say enough about it. I've recommended it to a few other Moms who were at their wit's end with colic and/or teething...and they raved about it! Again...all natural. It's nothing but herbs. You can find some here:

In all honesty, I've used it myself on days when my DH & DS were driving me NUTS...it works for adults, too!! *wink wink*

Hope this helps...remember, this too shall pass!! :)

Oh no, poor thing!! I hope once she cuts those teeth she gets a bit of a break. Is she running a fever or just cranky? Tyler was older so we could give him tylenol when the teeth/fever hit.. Whisky?? Isn't that what they used to do??LOL.

I hope she (and you) are at least able to get some rest at night. Keep us posted!! :support:

Poor Averie! We're going through it too. Cohen's whining for Mama as we speak! I hope she gets some relief soon, poor baby.

Thanks, everyone!

I was wondering why I couldn't find Hyland's here and it's because the only place that carries it is Walgreen's. I *hate* Walgreen's (even more now after their defective pregnancy test recently). I guess I will have to pick some up. I used to give the other kids zwieback (sp?) toast but it's so messy I have to admit that's why I haven't given Averie any. Also, with her being just over 5 months it still makes me nervous. If she were older I would give her frozen waffles but there's no way she can handle any pieces or thickness at this point, she gags.

They also have the toast...It's like the biscuits but it's less messy! That's what I use to give to Conner because I hated the mess. :hehe:

I hope she feels better soon. I hate teething!

Another thing you can try is to get one of those mesh teethers that you can put food in, but substitute food for an ice cube. They get all drooly and wet, but Annie had a ball with hers! Plus, they are great once she gets on solids...you can put hunks of frozen carrot or apples in there and let them go to town.

That's what I was going to suggest. They're fantastic! :hula:

Ben was a late teether (got his first tooth around 9 or 10 months) but he was teething for months before anything popped through. I gave him the mesh teether all the time. I bought bags of frozen mixed fruit and would give pieces of that. Frozen strawberries, mango, applesauce cubes (I made his applesauce and froze it in ice cube trays) which were awesome because they weren't as messy as frozen fruit, darn near anything frozen and he was happy as a clam.

Teething sucks. I hope she's feeling better soon! :support:

Yes, we had those mesh things with Tyler, though that child had opposition to any extreme temperature, hot or cold :eyeroll: I hope something works for her!!

I found my mesh teether at Babies R Us, but I know Target carries them, too.

Double ditto on the Mesh teether thing! Those work great--even when they bust a lip.

And Target does have them :D I hope the little misses feels better
