View Full Version : Grandparents...
My dad is ridiculous.
I love my father to pieces but sometimes he just wants me to do the most ridiculous things with the baby!
Like the carseat for instance :eyeroll:
Well last time I was there he wanted me to give him chocolate pudding. he got so mad that I wouldn't let him try it. Hello! I can't eat dairy what makes you think I can just give it to him? (oh and I totally spazzed on the vodka sauce because my dad put cream in it.)
Anyway, fast forward to Sunday and my dad tried to feed him watermelon! Yes, you heard me...watermelon. Good God. My dad is NOT allowed to babysit.
So has your parents/inlaws done anything with your baby that you just can't understand? Oh and do not get me started on the paci rule or the over feeding :smack:

My parents are amazing with Annie...but the in-laws are ridiculous. They let her jump on the couch and the bed, cram her full of chocolate and sugar, let her drink black (ie. CAFFEINATED) tea, and let her stay up 'til all hours. I've asked them time and time again NOT to do these things, and their response?
"How many kids have you raised?"
ARRRRGH!! Even when they DO discipline her, it's a weak little, "Aaaaaaanie, don't do that." It's very sing song-y and not firm at all. Needless to say, the weeks after they leave are hell on earth.

Shall I begin the list?????
If I left Charlie with either set of parents he'd starve.
ILs put him in a kiddie pool and when he fell face forward and cried hard they told him "not to be a girl"
ILs put him on a slide that was 14 feet tall....yes he fell and fortunately he was caught
Dad and MIL have given him sharp long objects to swing around
That's only 4...I'm too lazy to write more. Freakin' morons

Well, I think I'm enough of a beatch that everyone knows better. My dad is great! Perhaps lacking in any discipline, but that's what grandparents are for! Everyone knows my rules, and they do pretty much stick to it- they know I wouldn't let them be around the kids otherwise. I dealt with enough crap with family, I don't let anyone get away with crap with my kids. It helps we live far away from everybody. :hehe:
One gem from my mother- why do you bother breastfeeding, I would have shoved a damn bottle in her mouth by now (Lily was approx 2 weeks old). Sigh. When I do see my Mil, she'll be like "I used to.." or "I would.." I just nod and don't really respond.
I guess I am kind of a *itch

Yeah, I'm with Ashley. I pretty much make it VERY known if I have a problem with anything my parents or my inlaws do. MIL was babysitting him once when he was about 6 months old. I was still nervous to leave him. I told her there was a bottle of breastmilk in the fridge if he got hungry, and she said, "Oh, I can just give him a bottle of water." I was like WTF??? Why would you do that??? Anyway, I said, "Um, No, Cohen doesn't drink water." Thankyouverymuch. Dirty hooker.

Who can blame him?? That's like my FIL...he torments the crap out of Annie for his own amusement, and then wonders why she won't go anywhere near him, and cries when he's around. I hate that SOB.
Glad my mom's not the only crazy. She means well, but drives me nuts and thinks because she took care of me, a baby 30 years ago that she has it all down....um no, you dont' know how to work anything and want to feed him all kinds of crazy crap that upsets his stomach, he's alleric to or can choke on. I just posted about this in the vent section. ;)
