What are some family traditions that you'd like to start with your family? What are some that you already have?? :family:

Holidays are ours. We will have Christmas morning in our home, wherever that may be, every single year.
We get old-fashioned bottles of coke every Thanksgiving. Jay got them one year and it stuck!
I'm not sure what else right now, I'm tired.. we have a lot of little things!

We let the kids all choose their birthday dinner. Since we have 3 of 5 kids with birthdays in December (thank GOODNESS Averie waited until January 2nd!!!) it's difficult to do birthday parties and they tend to get "combo" gifts and cards from family. So, to make it more special they get to choose ANYTHING they want for dinner that night and we either make it at home or go out to eat. Surprisingly (with the way I cook :hehe: ) they usually choose something at home. They also have all decided on the "tradition" of having sparkling grape juice in champagne glasses with their birthday dinner and it makes them feel "fancy"
We used to do holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving with family elsewhere but with 5 kids we have taken our holidays back. We offer an open-door policy to any family members that would like to visit us that day but we will NOT leave the house. Our family holidays are reserved for OUR family and in OUR home...period!
Mother's Day and Father's Day each child gets to choose and give their own card to the parent. Obviously we choose a card for Averie at this point but the older kids get to choose their own and it really makes it that much more sweet when we open them.

You know we really dont have any that I can think of LOL.
I want, when the boys are older, to start a weekly family game night. I cant think of anything else that we do.
Once Matt is older I will instill family dinner time! It's important to me.
I also so badly want Christmas at our house. I hate traveling every Christmas and am so exhausted by the end of the day. It also isn't fair if we always wind up traveling while everyone else sits all comfy cozy in their homes so I'd like to instill that into our family time also.
Other than that nothing at the moment.

We do family dinners every night. It is very important and I love having everyone sitting with no distractions (ie. tv, computers, telephones, video games, etc.). A great way to really have a nice conversation with everyone and enjoy quality time.

I want to take Christmas/Charlie's birthday to be our own. No family, no way, no how (besides our family). I'm still stuck on how to handle it with Charlie being born on Christmas Day and I refuse to do half-birthdays, so....we'll see.
I want family dinners, but that won't happen since DH is rarely home for dinner. So I guess it'll be mommy and me dinners if I ever get the gumption to actually cook when they're old enough to eat at a normal time (5 is not normal for me).
