Chandler has been eating rice cereal and otameal for a month now, and he is doing great. When do you start baby food? With Rylee, we started her at 4 months, but I knew that changed. I wasn't sure if it moved to 5 months or 6 months.

Well, my pediatrician told me we could start orange veggies at 4 months or wait until later (6 months) since Averie was breastfed. I have no idea if she would recommend something different if she were on formula but I assume so since she specifically mentioned that she could wait because she was breastfed :idontknow: I think a call to the pediatrician could give you some answers that are more specific to Chandler's needs though.

I think Conner started foods around 4-5 months. We started with carrots and he loved them and he ate only those for a long time before I introduced anything else.
They say 6 months I believe. But if you are comfortable and ready to start I say go for it since he's doing so well on cereal.

We start at 6 months. I think I start with rice cereal and then move on to peas. After that I do a 5-day cycle with new things, going through all the veggies and cereals and then finally getting to the fruits.
I have a shelf full of baby spoons calling my name. Tasha starts hers on August 9th!

We started Ben on rice cereal around 4 or 5 months. His weight gain had tapered off and he was showing all signs of wanting solids (it was so creepy watching him 'watch' us eat!) so our doctor gave us the go ahead to start. He was getting it only once a day for a few weeks then we added other grains and introduced veggies and fruits from there.

With Eli the Dr. said 4months cereal 6months baby food... But that wasn't what we did.. My feelings on this was to watch Eli and see what he was ready for for. At 3 1/2 we started cereal. Then at 5months we started baby food. Eli was eating 2bowls of cereal a day plus going through 2 large cans of formula a week! So I knew he was ready for baby food. We started with green beans b/c that was what I had read to start them with but he wouldn't eat them for anything.. So I go him carrots and they were a hit, then went on through the orange colored foods. Now today Eli LOVES greenbeans! Go figure!! LOL
Good Luck!

Thanks mama's! I am going to call his pedi today and see what she says, but don't mind waitng until next month either. He loves to sit with us when we are eating so I think he is ready.

Our pediatrician recommended starting Lily on a single serving of rice cereal since her weight gain is not doing so well. Other than that, we were told no other foods until 6 months. Lily is breastfed too though, so I don't know if it makes a difference? Tyler was formula fed, and at that time the AAP recommended the range of 4-6 months, versus the 6 months it is now.. so basically I'm no help :hehe:

I started feeding Charlie baby food around 6 months. I started rice cereal at 5.5 months. If you think he's ready I say go for it!

We started cereals at 4 mths and usually started foods around the end of month 4 or month 5. Did orange veggies first.
Except my youngest(he's nearly 18 mths now). He wouldnt eat anything baby food wise, not even cereal. So he went straight to soft table foods at 10-11mths.
Our pedi recommends 4 months. I tried a few times already and he could care less
