Any of you ladies see a rheumatologist?

I have recurring iritis. It's basically an infection of the iris that is extremely painful.

There's a big long history that I'll spare you on, but in 2009 an opthamologist told me I needed to see a rheumatologist. I ignored it because I felt like I was fine. I had an eye exam yesterday with a different doctor, and he told us yet again that I needed to see one because I had serious scarring on my iris from previous iritis attacks. He told me the number one autoimmune disorder he sees with iritis is rheumatoid arthritis.

Here's the thing.. I don't feel like anything is wrong with me. I certainly don't think I have rheumatoid arthritis, much less another autoimmune disorder.

Do you think it's worth getting checked out anyway? I guess I'm going to, but I'm not thrilled about it. Anyone ever been through this?

I haven't. But in my mind, you're still in your early/mid-twenties? You may have an autoimmune disease brewing and it just hasn't fully presented itself yet. Everyone I know was diagnosed in their late 20's or early 30's.

:ditto: I always say it's better to be safe than sorry, so I'd get it checked out :support:

Because ofbyour age, being post partum and this being the second doc to say this I would get it checked out. If it is RA then you may be able to save yourself ALOT of pain. I only wish I was able to see a reumatologist!

I would definitely go. Just like Sandy said you could save yourself a TON of pain and grief if there is something and you haven't caught it or had a full fledged flare yet. :support:
