View Full Version : got to ask if this is normal

I have always had regular cycles...always. My ovulation has always been wacky, though, either early or late, never at the "right" time during my cycle.

With Shelby, even with EBF, my period came back at 6 months PP, and then was regular after that. However, with her, I was pumping, not just nursing, since I was at work. I pumped twice a day.

With Jacob, I had what I thought was my period at 5 weeks PP. My PP bleeding had already been gone for two weeks. Then it went away again. I got a full period at 6 months PP, lasting a week.

This month, nothing. I am two weeks past when it should have come. I took two pregnancy tests just to make sure, although we've been using protection. One was negative, and I think the other one was messed up, because it had a line, but it was in the wrong place, and wasn't the right color, (and I have to say I'm relieved :hehe:). I was kind of freaking out, after the one that had a weird line, though.

So is it normal to have your cycles so wacky after having a baby? I'm exclusively breastfeeding Jacob, with no pumping anymore.

Mine were wacky when they finally started back after Sam. But I quit pumping in mid- to late- October and didn't have a really period until January...and they didn't return to semi-normal until the next summer (June, I think). Even then, my periods have NEVER been what they were before.

So far, nothing this time around.

I had regular periods before Shane was born but haven't since, well at least when I wasn't on the pill. I started the pill to make them regular again.

I use to be 28 days, and now i can go from 24 to 31. Only in the last 6 months that it's been close to steady at 27. So it can take awhile, giving birth messes everything up.

Okay, good to know. Everything went right back to normal after Shelby, so I was a little freaked out this time, with everything being so off.

Yes, it's completely normal for it to take a while for everything to get back to normal. Can be quite scary, huh?

Oh yes! We are not planning on having any more kids, so I kind of freaked out when that one test came up with a weird line. I felt better after the other one came up negative, especially since this far past a missed period, there should be a definite positive on any test.
