Can you tell me more about the IUD you had put in, please?
Does it control periods? Does it stop periods? It's hormone free, right?

:hi: I'm sorry I missed this, Marcia! I've had less time to get online since going back to work.
Yes, the Paragard is hormone-free -- no, it doesn't stop periods. It can, in some cases, make them heavier. The Mirena (hormone IUD) can lessen or stop periods in many cases. I don't do hormones, so that's the only reason I went with the Paragard. I've only had it in a month, but so far, so good! I like that I can leave it in for 10 years and not have to think about birth control! :hula: I have not yet had my first PP period, but I did spot/bleed for a week after insertion of the IUD, and this past week I've had some bleeding (heavier than spotting some days, but not heavy enough to be a period). I have read the spotting is normal until your body gets used to it
Good luck with whatever you decide! I should be able to tell you more about this thing after it's been in awhile.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I just got checked by my midwife today and it's been 4 weeks since I got it in. All is good (they just check and make sure the placement is okay).
