Anyone have Hashimoto's?
I was looking up information on my goiters and came across it. I mentioned it to my doctor on Thursday, expecting her to blow me off but she agrees that I have a lot of the symptoms. I am getting some blood test and an ultrasound done...so we shall see...

I put some of the information below. I have elevated thyroid levels, big goiters, and most of the other symptoms, which can also be attributed to a million other things - like getting old!

The signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism vary widely, depending on the severity of hormone deficiency. At first, you may barely notice any symptoms, such as fatigue and sluggishness, or you may simply attribute them to getting older. But as the disease progresses, you may develop more-obvious signs and symptoms. Signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism include:

Fatigue and sluggishness
Increased sensitivity to cold
Constipation
Pale, dry skin
A puffy face
Hoarse voice
An elevated blood cholesterol level
Unexplained weight gain — occurring infrequently and rarely exceeding 10 to 20 pounds, most of which is fluid
Muscle aches, tenderness and stiffness, especially in your shoulders and hips
Pain and stiffness in your joints and swelling in your knees or the small joints in your hands and feet
Muscle weakness, especially in your lower extremities
Excessive or prolonged menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
Depression

Without treatment, signs and symptoms gradually become more severe and your thyroid gland may become enlarged (goiter). In addition, you may become more forgetful, your thought processes may slow or you may feel depressed.

I have had thyroid issues in the past. They swear I don't anymore because my numbers are within range, but I have a lot of the symptoms too. I'm glad to hear your Dr didn't brush you off though! That is hard to find.

Glad to hear your dr is taking you seriously. I had thyroid issues but my levels were always in range. Good luck!

I do have Hashimoto's Hypothyroid. I've never had goiters though. My antibody tests were what confirmed my Hashi's.

It sucks. My biggest problem is getting doctors to realize that just because my TSH level is "normal" (under 5.0) does not mean I feel normal. If my number isn't at or below a 1.0 I feel miserable and the higher it goes the worse my symptoms become. I can't blame my symptoms on age because I'm only 24 and I shouldn't feel like I'm 60 and in poor health. You know?

It's been a struggle to find someone to listen to me. My OB, RE and Perinatologist all listened, but I have to switch from them over to a Endocrinologist again since I'm no longer TTC or Pregnant. I'm on the search for a new one.

Keep us posted on your results.

My doctor actually said just because some test come back in the normal range doesn't mean they are normal for you...
so I guess I have a good doctor.

I go for the ultrasound today to look at the goiters. I have to make a plan for the blood test because I have to fast...maybe I can go Thursday morning after I drop the kids at school...
