I chose not to keep them out, as a matter of fact I moved all the pots and pans, tupperware, and wooden spoons to that spot so they could play with them. Just seemed easier to me and they LOVED playing with that stuff.

Persistence. :twothumbs:
We didn't use locks or special latches. Whenever Ben went near a cabinet he wasn't supposed to be in we said "Don't touch the cabinets please!" or "Stay out of that cabinet!" and redirected him away. We have a cabinet with plastic containers that he's allowed to play in so he'd either go to that one or move to play with something else.
I wanted to be able to take him somewhere and not have to worry about him going into their cabinets so we worked hard at keeping him out without using locks.

(Double post...)
:hehe: Sandy! We did the same thing! I moved all the pot lids and some old pans under the stove so he could play with those and then there was the cupboard with the containers that was open for play too. :twothumbs:

I would ditto on the consistency! I think if you want to keep them out, you just tell them "no" or "not in there" repeatedly, eventually they will get it. Or, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and only keep things they can play with down there :hehe:

I made one cabinet that is "his" cabinet full of tupperware and unbreakables. He knows not to go in the other cupboards and if he does I just redirect him.

Our cabinets are weird and we can't get locks to work and don't have knobs on them. I just move what I don't want Conner to get into, higher. He has a few things he pulls out and plays with while in the kitchen with me. Sometimes it's annoying because every time I turn around I am walking into a door. lol
