Do any of you take anything to prevent migraines?
I was recently put on something to prevent them. It doesn't seem to be working. I think I'm going to call and get another appt or call and ask if I can try something different.
If you do, and it works for you, can you share what you take, any side effects, etc.
Thanks!

I used to take a drug called Midrin, not to prevent them but because mine came on pretty slow, it would nip them in the bud, if I took it right away when I felt one coming. Of course they don't make it anymore. I have something called Fioricet now but it doesn't work as well. Thankfully, I don't get them very often anymore! Good luck, migraines are evil
I don't suffer from migraines nor could I imagine suffering from them. I just hope you find something that works :support:

The goal of migraine prevention are :
1. Reduce the frequency, severity and duration of your migraines.
2. Improve your ability to carry out your daily activities.
3. Improve your response to medicines you take as migraines occur.

Anyway, I never took anything to prevent mine either, but when I had one, I loved Axert. It typically worked within 20 minutes. I hope you're able to find something, migraines are horrible!

I get my migraines mostly around the time of my period. They're pretty much hormonal but I do get them once in a while from stress or sleep deprivation. I take Midrin as well. I take one when I notice my headache starting to feel like it's taking a turn for the worse along with some caffeine. Then I can take one each hour if it's not feeling better. I can take up to 5 in a day. It's not often I have to take 5 or even 3. I also used to have Zomig that I would take if I maxed out on the Midrin. It was instantly dissolvable because my migraines would get so bad I would throw up.

My neighbor gets them ALL THE TIME! She says it's from stress.
