Does anyone know what are some of the ingredients that we find on labels that some people say cause cancer? I would like to learn more about ingredients but i have no idea were to start. Anyone here into nutrition?

Acesulfame-K (also known as Acesulfame-potassium or “Sunnette”), Artificial colors (or FD&C colors), BHA & BHT, Potassium bromate, Carrageenan (In its native form, it has not been classified as a carcinogen, but in it’s degraded or broken down form it has been classified as a possible human carcinogen), Nitrates and nitrites (found primarily in processed meats), Olestra (has not been shown to cause cancer. However, it robs the body of carotenoids, which are known to have a protective effect against cancer), Propyl gallate, Saccharin.
We try to avoid these things as much as we can. We also try to use soaps, shampoos, etc. that are paraben and sulfate free.
ETA - We are big into nutrition. It's one of my favorite topics to read about. It can be a little scary though. Here's an example of what I mean - you know those Gerber Puffs that most parents feed to their children? Emmelia will never eat those - http://editor.nourishedmagazine.com.au/articles/puffed-grains-should-we-eat-them
Here's another article that will scare the pants off of you. http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/dirty-secrets.html (This one is a little hokey, but still has some good info.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

All processed cereals are really bad (even corn flakes). In our house, the only cereal that we eat is organic granola (and I'm still not sure if I trust it).

I can't grow anything. I have a black thumb and everything just dies or turns black. I'm not kidding. I have tomatoes that are spotted black.
