Yuck...

I woke up this morning to an odd smell in the house. My DH said it smelled like something was burning but as soon as I was alert I realized what it was... The resident skunk, who lives under the deck at the side of our house, sprayed last night.

Our whole house reeks. I can't open the windows because it's too cold right now and the worst of the smell is in the basement so when the furnace kicks in it blows the obnoxious odour through the house. :angrysteam:

They don't bother me. Except when they spray close to my house... :P

I've lived around skunks for a long time so they don't freak me out (raccoons freak me out more than skunks do :blush:). Walking around a corner and meeting one face to face is a little unnerving but as long as you don't freak out they just walk past you and go about their business. And this guy digs up all the grubs in our yard so we don't have to pay to have them removed. :thumb2:

Apparently a while... :roll: It still smells terrible but it's not as bad as it was this morning. I can smell it outside too. I'm hoping that by tonight it won't be as bad but we'll see what my DH says when he gets home from work.

I guess I'm a hick. :blush: I've come face to face with lots of skunks (and raccoons, fox, sewer rats, etc.), including this one, and as of yet haven't had any issues. They just look at you and keep on going 'cause they know they're going to win. :P We had a family of skunks that lived under a shed beside my mom's house and it was awesome. The babies are so flippin' cute!
