I have made several gifts for family over the last few years. Mainly during Christmastime.
Im not complex about anything :hehe: so there isnt any major deal to do what Ive done.
One year, I went to Michaels Crafts and bought some wooden birdhouses. I then bought various paints and some decor and took them home. On a pre-chosen day LOL, I painted the birdhouses(I bought a variety of shapes)different colors for different family members. Then I glued on some cute little decorations like a bird sitting on the stick thing that pokes out. I did some butterflies on my moms and one I decorated like a honey pot with Winnie the Pooh stuff all over it. My mom keeps hers on her shelf above her wall in the living room.
Another year I bought a gel candle making kit off Ebay and went to Michaels Crafts for small candle holders/jars. I bought a variety of shapes so that they werent all getting the exact same thing. Then I bought scents for the candle gel and colors. I followed the instructions and melted the gel and as it melted I added the scent and color. I poured the gel into the candle holders and they had to sit for a few hours to stabilize.
Another year I went to Michaels Crafts and bought trays, made from wood and all had a bit different style to them.
I decorated them to the design of the family's kitchens. Like my sisters was done with white and then I added apple stamps and stencils while mom's was done with cows.
Its quite easy and doesnt take a ton of time(at least not for me as I dont have a huge family LOL and I only do one gift per family not individual people...so my sis and BIL got one, my grandparents only got one, etc). You can go search around Michaels and find something simple and then add your own personal flourish to it. Not only making it your own by showing off your style but making it a bit personal for them as well.
