View Full Version : Frustrated!

I really don't want to be frustrated with MH, I really do love it, but it just doesn't seem to be compatible with my computer for some reason. And it's only with this site. It runs so slow and when I try to scroll up and down through the pages there's a weird sort of delay and it will either go really slow or all of a sudden jump to the very bottom even when I don't change my scrolling pace. I am not computer savvy and asking DH to do anything right now is like asking William to write a speech for the president! :p (Although I think William would get his done first)
Any ideas?
P.S. If I can get this fixed I will be on here more. I usually get too frustrated and close it out. :(

My only thought is Photobucket. It takes ages to load but it does it to me on any site with signatures and images. What I usually do is hit the "Stop" button if it's taking too long and everything is fine.
Watch the bottom left corner of your browser and see what it says is loading. I know one site, for me, it's the ads that take ages to load so I can't use the stop button but on a lot of sites PB seems to be taking it's time so I just stop the images from loading and it's smooth sailing from there.

I do the same as Elaine. It use to drive me nuts and I too wouldn't be on long. If the page is taking to slow I hit the X at the top to make it stop loading the page. Usually when it jumps from place to place the page finally loaded. It'll do it to me when I am typing and drives me nuts.
I hope you can do this to and be around more! :support:
Same thing here! Sometimes it freezes my Mozilla and I just hit the X button and post away.
Hopefully that helps!

Have you tried maybe adjusting your settings so that the siggies don't show?? Does that make a difference at all? It does take awhile on my phone, but I don't have any issues on the computer.. Also, what browser and version are you using? Have you updated/changed it at all lately?

I've never noticed here, but is it set up to only show our siggies once per page, that might help some to.
I had this problem in the beginning when I first started coming here, but not too much lately. I would rather put up with the slowness here, than the crap on 'that other site'.

Photobucket seems to be an issue all around lately. The other night I had a heck of a time uploading pics and that's something I've never had a problem with before. It kept freezing at around 30% of the upload, I'd cancel the upload then I'd look and the pic would be loaded.

I will try to set it to only show siggies once per page, but it doesn't sit there and load. It's after it's already loaded that it does it. I don't know what to do! :idontknow:

As far as I know siggies are set to show once per page and the default is for posts per page is 10 posts (I'll have to check with Farah).
What browser are you using? (not trying to be a pest...) You're sure the page has finished loading? I know that PB takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to load for me even when I think it's down I see at the bottom of my browser that it's still loading images. That's when I hit the stop button.
It's really weird that it keeps jumping around on you. I haven't got a clue why it would do that. I'm stumped!

I'm a little stumped too. Can you let us know what browser you're using and what version? Also, do you clear your cookies after a session or do you stay logged in? That might make a difference.
We'll help you get this figured out! :support:

Are you using Firefox, by chance? Up until a week or so ago, when some new updates came out, Firefox would freeze when I was on certain sites but only if I had more than one tab open. It was very annoying. Then out of the blue it stopped freezing and I can have multiple tabs open again. All I can think of is an update fixed the problem.
Maybe that's what's been happening to you(?). Cookies and cache are a good one too. If you haven't already, try cleaning those out and see if it helps.

I've been hearing a lot about siggies taking forever to load because of PB. Their site is acting up, so I'm not sure. Let me check your settings and see if I can help.

Michelle, I hid all images from your viewing. I can add them back one at a time (you can too in your User CP under "Edit Options") to see if it is PB that's causing the problem. Let me know if it goes faster for you :) If it does then I will set it up to only show images, but not avatars or siggies.

Nope, didn't help, Farah. :( It is still doing it. It's definitely not still loading. There is no bar on the bottom that shows it loading, there is no little blue circle next to my mouse and the stop button is not clickable. I am using Firefox and I update whenever there is one avaiable. I don't know. I don't get it. I am not computer savvy at all so I don't know where to see my saved cookies to delete ones I don't want. I did go into my network settings and change my delete history option to every 10 days and delete cookies when I leave a site.

When you sign out of MH it clears your cookies. Do you stay signed in or sign in each time you come on here? Maybe try logging out and back in?? (sometimes that can help). Let me see if I can find any info.. we'll try to get this resolved!
Oh, hey, can you try accessing MH on a different browser?

Michelle, I'm going to send you a PM. I want to try some things :)
The same thing happens to me. It's been happening since the beginning. My X buttons sometimes isn't clickable and my screen goes blank but then pops back up and I quickly hit the X button if I can.
It's frustrating. :hugs: Sometimes I just have another page open and wait for MH to load back up and go back so I don't smash the computer ;)

I have this same issue when I use MH at home, but not while I'm at work. And I use the same laptop so I don't have any idea why that would be! I do use Firefox at work, but I don't have it loaded onto my home login. But it doesn't sound like that is the likely culprit either. I'll be interested in hearing what the solution is!

Patty, you've got me thinking...
Michelle, what type of connection do you have (cable, DSL, dial-up)? Who is your ISP? If Patty has the same problem but only at home it makes me think it could be your ISP and not necessarily the board itself.
Farah is going to try something but she can't do it until nap-time. :hehe: Hopefully we can get this fixed for you!

I have cable internet through Cox. It could just be my internet provider because it freezes up with FB sometimes when I am using FB Chat. :(
