So Cohen is starting to notice when Dh is gone. Lastnight we got home, and he was walking through the house saying "Daddy, where are you?" in a sing-songy voice. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen. Then later he heard some thunder and thought it was Dh getting home, and he ran into the kitchen shouting "Daddy's home!" I had to tell him, no, daddy isn't home. I hate this.

:( That's so sad! I remember when Tyler was that age, dh used to travel constantly (that's the flipside- we either move around and be together, or stay put and he travels). It was so hard at that age, because they get that they're gone, but not why! Hang in there and share lots of extra hugs! :support:

Oh I hate it, too!! What we've started doing is if DH isn't going to be home anytime soon we call him and Charlie can have a "convo" with him. It's particularly good on the nights/weeks that DH doesn't get to see him at all. I've started to tell him "Daddy's at work, but he'll be home and play with you as soon as he can."

Aww Heather! :pinkbluehug: It is soo hard to explain to them where Daddy is. I could kill Jeremy when he gets home before us and he is out on his 4-Wheeler some where. B/C Eli sees his truck and goes running to the house yelling Daddy Daddy. UGH:eyeroll:

we have this problem too. as a matter of fact my ds is looking out the window hollering "DADA" my husband works days and nights so the times he works days jayden is walking through the house hollering dada until he gets home, and then the times he works night jayden is hollering dada all night, but there are some days that DH works nights one day and then days the next so its a lil bit before jayden can see his dada... its heart breaking, but i let jayden talk to dada when he calls when he is on break or whatever... he will understand though just keep telling him dada is at work ... :D:support:

Aw... that's so sad! Duncan is always looking for whoever is not home - whether its DH or me. We usually call one another and talk to him on the phone. It seems to help most of the time.

:support: Devinn has started asking for his "dada" throughout the day and it does break your heart.

He's at work can get old even though its the truth. The only good part is when they hear the key in the door and know he's home and go bananas.
