We have this bath seat for Emmelia.

We bathe her in our big tub using this seat. Well, she has pretty much outgrown the seat and can roll out of it now. She can sit up on her own now. What type of bath seat would you ladies recommend now? The next logical step would be something like this, right? But, how do you get their bottoms cleaned up when they are sitting like that?

DH thinks we should just let her sit in the tub. I think he's nuts.

When Eli was able to sit up on his own we got a bath matt and put it in the tub for him, and also a soft cover thing for the faucet. I was nervous about but Eli LOVED it and he was safe. He was around 5-6months when we started doing this.

That's what we did with Dylan

Natalie, we had one of those purple/pink seats for Mackenzie when she was younger, but it was blue. I LOVED it. She LOVED it, it was awesome seat. In fact, I've passed it on to my sister for her two kids.

You'd be surprised with how easy is it to get her in and out of to clean her bottom. I recommend buying it. I used it with Mackenzie til she was over a year old.

I always wondered how you washed their bum when they were in the seat too, so I never got a bath seat.:hehe: I just got a bath mat so she wouldn't slip and put one of those covers on the faucet and soap dish.

I would just stand her up and lean her on me when I washed the rest of her, I suppose you could do that with the seat too. It does kill your back leaning over the tub ready to catch them if they slip.:eyeroll:

I used a seat like that with my oldest but never used anything at all with the rest of the kids (not even an infant tub/seat). It's just not neccessary IMO. I didn't dislike it when I used it with my oldest, just didn't really see a need for one with the other kids.

This is what we have:

It's by safety first. I use this stool :

and our bath set up is great! I can not just put Matt in the tub. We tried and he is a beast. I can already see us calling 911 if we let him just splash around. With the seat I just take him out and clean his butt standing. It works really well. Plus he likes to play and splash with his feet and this works great!

We got a blow up thing that fits inside the bath and it was perfect! You can get them for like 15 bucks or less. They have a duck one at Walmart and Target made by Munchkin for 10 bucks, but I felt like it was a little bit too small.

The one we got was perfect because it has soft inflatable sides all around, just in case baby tips over or something and I like that you can just fill the inflatable bath instead of the whole tub. I also quickly learned not to fill the tub up past his waist because that seemed to cause him to loose his balance if the water was higher.

This is the one we used...I didn't pay that much for it though.

I'm pretty sure that when D outgrew his baby tub, we just stuck him in the bathtub. I think that was around when he was 5-6m old. I didn't even know they made bath seats!

We just got a big bath mat and that was about it. And we didn't fill the tub up much past his legs so he could sit more easily. Jo's bathseat looks really nice, though, and seems like a good idea!

Oh I forgot to mention that we switched him about 3 months ago and he wasn't sitting up at all :)

Thanks for the input ladies. I would be fine with just getting a bath mat and putting her in the tub....except for when DH bathes her. He struggles a bit with a wet, slippery baby as it is. So, I'll get a seat. Thanks!

I think most bath seats are banned in Canada because I think I've seen one since Ben was born. Nothing to do with the safety of the seats, it's the stupidity of the parents.

When Ben outgrew his baby tub we plunked him in the big tub on a bath mat and he was fine. My DH was freaking out at first (he does bath time) but eventually calmed down. None of my brothers or sisters used one with there kids so we didn't bother getting one and more than likely won't this time around.

Natalie if you want that bath seat that Jo has, I have one. I'm not sure if I have the original box, but it was never used. We bought it before leaving Spain so it just got packed out and by the time we got down here he was just sitting on his own. So if you want it, you're more than welcome to it.

With Conner he either just sat in the tub on a mat or he used this for a while.

He loved that!

We got one of those inflatable kind for Cash when he outgrew his baby bath (he was only like 3-4 months old so we felt like we needed something) but he was utterly terrified of it, so Sean just got in the bathtub with him every night until he was old enough to sit on his own, then we did the same as the others with the bathmat and the faucet cover.

We just had him sit in the tub with a soft mat on the bottom after he outgrew the infant swing. I had a few friends that had the rubber duckie and loved it.

We had one of those 2-in-1 things. One way she reclines the other she sits, so we use that for now. When she outgrows it, we'll move to the tub with a mat. And we use the cover thing too. Glad you found one!
