Mirena??

Kelly, I saw you mentioned you have had the Mirena for a year. I am most likely going to get this in a week or two- I heard it hurts like nothing to get put in. Any tips?? Also, did you have any side effects from it?

Anyone else who knows anything about it, please let me know too!

It does hurt when they put it in! It's only for a second though. I did bleed for about a month after but then my cycle was back to normal a month after. They say 20% of women actually don't get their period anymore with the mirena. I was hoping to be one of those but unfortunetly that hasn't happened. I like it. I have no side effects at all. It's worry free! Thats the best part!!

Thanks for the insight, I can't help but cringe when thinking about it. I need to suck it up and do it quickly before we have an oops!! :nono:

It hurts like heck for about a minute, and then just some mild cramps. Mine didn't even last 4 hours! I stopped having periods a few months in...it's worth EVERY MINUTE of pain, I tell you that. I'd have put up with the pain for longer just for the convenience of no pills, and no periods! It ROCKS!!

Good to hear some of you didn't have any side effects. I have had the mirena for almost a year now. It took me 6 months for my hormones to start getting back on track because of the mirena. When I was on the mirena, I kept thinking I was pregnant because of all my symptoms.
