once babies are a year old they are supposed to be off the bottle right? Holy I can't remember this stuff. It is just Emily really sucks at sippy cups, does okay but only gets a few ounces of water or diluted juice from it. Oh, and how many ounces of milk is a 12month old supposed to have. I am pulling a complete blank!!:hehe:

I don't remember either. Averie gets sippy cups for juice and water but is nursing for milk and I see absolutely zero signs that she'll be getting milk from any other source any time soon.
Sorry I am NO help at all. I am from the school of thought that you do what works best for you and ignore what "they" say :hehe:

Pffffttt, heck no! BUT, he keeps mentioning a vasectomy and never gets further than mentioning it. I guess that means we're done though :(

I think most try to get them off the bottle at a year but some kiddos dont take too well to that.:hehe:
My middle son wouldnt hear of it til he was 18mths no matter how much I tried. Then he went to my moms and came back drinking out of a cup LOL.
When I switched my oldest and youngest to sippy cups from the bottle(at a year)we did a full sippy of milk or water or juice around 4-6 times a day. I believe most of the sippy cups I had held 7-9ozs(depending on brand)of liquid.
I really tried to do milk in the morning and evening and then water the rest of the day. Juice was/is rare and I never diluted it. I know some do a half and half deal but I never bothered LOL.
Call me evil mommy. I just did what felt right and never bothered asking their dr.
You don't have to take them off the bottle at a year.
My pedi said yesterday "well his weight is 25-50% but that's normal for BF babies and we'll see what he does at a year...Oh wait he'll be on milk."
I just smiled and nodded and in my head kept thinking "that's what you think lady!"
Anyway, I remember with the boys that they would get milk at breakfast/lunch/dinner in a cup and then a bottle at their naps and bedtime until they were 2. 8oz in their bottles and then the cups were whatever.

Yeah, I think as long as the kid doesn't fall asleep with a bottle of juice every night that it will be okay past a year.

Around a year is the transition time to me. Surprisingly, Lily does great with her sippy cup- Tyler had the worst time. However, she only gets water in it, so I'm not sure how well the milk will go, especially since her only milk is from me. So I'm not sure how this transition will go or how long it will take her to switch from boob to cup of milk.

Switch whenever you want. We give Ben a bottle of warm milk at night time so I know how much liquid he gets in a day. We've tried sippy cups and cups with straws many times (we usually try for a week or so at a time) and he wasn't drinking enough in a day so we went back to a bottle before bed. He doesn't go to bed with it, he sits on the couch with it. He can have a bottle every night until he's 30 for all I care but I'm pretty laid back about that kind of thing so I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice. :hehe:
