William is now officially weaned at 14 months. I was going to take it a little slower than I did but I was really ready for us to be done. Plus I knew more of it was for comfort more than anything. We ended up getting it all done within a month :hula: Sunday was our first official day of not nursing. I hadn't even started weaning him at bedtime but that night I read him his stories and he gave me good night kisses so I put him in his crib and he went right to sleep. I was a little sad that he was okay with going to bed without it and didn't even ask, but I know that's a good sign too. Last night was a little harder though. He didn't want to go to bed without it but I stayed strong. He still asks for it in the morning. I have just been forcing myself to get up, make him a cup of warm milk and we snuggle on the couch for a little until we're ready for breakfast.

Aw, it's sad, isn't it? I know I was sad that Cohen weaned himself (which had everything to do with me going back to work, but still). William is growing up fast! :support:

Yay! :hula: I'm glad it went well! I imagine it's sad but at the same time it has to be a relief that there was no struggle. :support:

I'm glad it's going well. I know what you mean about just being done with it. I was all about it while I was doing it, but towards the end I was just done and wanted it to be over with. She didn't seem like she would stop as long as I offered, so I just had to gradually stop offering. Stay strong! :))

I'm glad it went smoothly. I agree that it is bittersweet. Once I was done for a couple weeks though, I started to enjoy more and more that I was done with it.

That's great that it went so smoothly for you! I was ready to stop a few months before Cash was and it was hard going! Good job both of you!

:hula: I am glad it was a smooth transition for you both. I hope you know you're going to be my mentor in the coming months as I consider weaning Averie :))

Thanks ladies! This morning was quite funny because he would ask for it and I kept saying "It's all gone, all done" and he would start babbling, look at me and then pull my shirt up and laugh kinda like "I see it right there!" :hehe: He is on goat's milk now and OMG that stuff is putrid! I can't believe he'll drink that $H!T but won't eat a mango  It pretty much tastes the same as a goat smells.

Goat cheese is disgusting so I can't imagine the milk. Poor kid :hehe:

It's funny, because I had a cow milk allergy when I was little, goat milk is the only kind of milk I ever drank. Even when I outgrew my allergy around age 12, I never liked the taste of milk, I only have it in cereal or tea/coffee, but I still adore goat milk, it's so yummy! Though I hate goat cheese with a passion, and if you cook with goat milk that's what it tastes like, totally BLYERGHK.

It is Ewwww!!!!! I feel bad every time I have to give it to him but he loves it. We have so much of it in our fridge too because you can only buy it in a one quart carton and WIC give us 16 quarts a month. It's just there, staring at me in all its disgusting glory.

I've never tried goat's milk but I love goat cheese. Apparently I'm a freak. :hehe:

Sean always gives me crap about drinking goat milk. I was like "Well you like feta cheese!" and he was all "what does that have to do with anything?" and I told him it was goat milk cheese. He had no idea, now he doesn't like it anymore. Ha ha!

Well I like feta. I love it actually but goat's milk smells like a petting zoo.

Welcome to my world! That's aweome that WIC covers it! We buy it at Whole Foods or Trader Joes and it's 3.99 a quart! :eyeroll: They only good thing about it, aside from it agreeing with Talon's tummy, is that it lasts quite a while. The Whole Foods brand especially..it's usually is good for like 5 weeks, so we can buy several quarts at once. They just came out with a 1/2 gallon too!

Congratulations on weaning successfully! I know it must have been hard emotionally. I hope to have a good experience weaning Layla...
