I'm thinking that I'm might be trying cloth diapers this time around... they're just so cute and so soft and seem so much more comfy than those plastic things I've wrapped around my kids LOL.
Anyone here do cloth diapering?

I'm planning to! Pretty much have my newborn stash bought but haven't prepped yet...:hehe: This will be my first "go" at it too, but seems so much more economical!

I know for a fact that Emilade cloth diapers. She has two in diapers and both do cloth. She's awesome.
Those diapers are SO CUTE! We use those plastic things though. :hehe: Hopefully she'll be out of them soon (early potty training...hopefully).

I CDed Cash until he was 18 months and outgrew his larges, and I plan to CD this baby until she's 35 lbs too (hopefully it'll take longer than 18 months & she won't be ginormpus baby like Cash!). It was awesome, saved a ton of $$ and avoided diaper rash altogether. All told I spent about $600 on my stash & made about $350 back as I sold it off.
Every baby is different, so everyone has their own preference as far as brand, a lot of people swear by FuzziBunz but they never fit Cash right & I am also not a fan of Bum Genius, which tons of people love, as I tended to get repelling issues after a while with them. I used about 80% Swaddlebees and Blueberrys and that's what I plan to get this time too (though I want to try Rumparooz, they look awesome, and also want to try GroBabys)

I'm doing a lot of prefolds/flats and covers for the NB stage and then not sure LOL. I bought some Nubunz seconds and some smartipants...both are pockets so we'll see...
I'd like to learn to make my own really.....

Aren't they one size fits all? Do you wash them daily? Do you wash them yourself, or do you have them cleaned somewhere else?
I finally jumped on the wagon cause I'm cheap and because they're so darn cute!
I have way too many now  I bought some WAHM stuff and some stuff off a CD site. Man, I wiped my paypal clean in a matter of days.

You can get OS ones, I didn't with Cash because the brands I preferred didn't have OS ones, but now they do and I plan to use those for the new baby.
I had (and will have) enough that I only had to wash them every 3rd day. And I did it myself in the washer and dryer, just like normal laundry, simply used special soap and dryer balls to avoid build up.
Ok I have no idea why I stopped writing in this thread
Anyway I can go a week in between washes...yes I'm a freak and have that many but I rinse them in the bathroom sink and hang them on the clothes horse in the laundry area. I started doing 2x a week because well I have no idea...My little bag was getting over run with washed dirty diapers.
I have a few OS and a few NB/SM/Med/LG. I am hoping to start potty training by the summer time because I can't do an older child in diapers I just can't.
(we still use disposables at night because I'm chicken.) I love the plastic diapers (lol) but I can't be bothered buying them anymore and cleaning off the poop is not bad at all--it rolls right off into the toilet with no remnants left (well sometimes theres a little bit but nothing gag worthy).

There are so many options on CD's...I'm still a novice myself so I'm probably not the best person to ask...however...
You have prefolds/flats and covers (think of the whole "rubber pants" that were used by our parents) These are popular b/c they're inexpensive. The prefolds are sold in different sizes (preemie, NB, infant, toddler, etc...also depends on the manufacturer) and some covers are NB, S, M, L and some are more one size, like the Thirsties Duo's
Then you have All-in-one's (AIO's) which are the most like a normal diaper. These are sold per size, so for instance, BumGenius, a very popular brand, sells in XS, S, M, L. These also are a tad more expensive and a common issue I've heard with them is that they take longer to dry, since they are built with more absorbency in them.
Pockets are usually considered the "One Size" diaper. What's nice about them is that they come with microfiber inserts that are "stuffed" into the diaper, so for instance if you have a heavy wetter, then you would add more than one who may not be. I generally hear that pockets are what a lot of ladies use for overnight.
Now since I have yet to have my newborn, I can't vouch for this, but some of the cons from the OS's is that they may not fit a newborn from birth. I've only picked up two types of pockets though so there may be others out there that go a little smaller, though just based on the sizes of my dipes I would have to agree that more than likely my pockets won't fit my NB from the beginning.
Now there are other variations, for instance fitteds, AIO V2's, etc.....I was planning on just going with the three options above unless it just doesn't work out for us, then may consider some of the other options.
As far as washing, yep, I plan to wash mine....there's some really nice detergents used for CD's like Rockin Green (you want a detergent that doesn't have any oils in it as it can cause the cloth to not be absorbant) that is pretty inexpensive. However, there are diaper services out there too that will bring you clean dipes each week and you just leave them the soiled ones. It really depends on their charges and the time you have available.
Another note: from my understanding, lots of daycares don't accept cloth babies, so just wanted to throw that out there.
One of the best sites I found when starting my stash is Mom's Milk Botique -- they have quite a variety: www.momsmilkbotique.com.
I really hope I didn't confuse ya, good luck!
Oh detergent...I started using Xtra--that cheap crap. OMG my diapers smell AMAZING! I was using the sensitive stuff and bio kleen and I didn't like the smell at all. I'll just strip them every so often.

I'm just now wrapping up 2.5 years of cloth diapers. My experiences are just with the pocket diapers and we must have tried about a dozen different kinds. I saved gazzillions of dollars and thousands of pounds of non-biodegradable crap from the landfills. If you have any questions on the pockets - let me know.

I did CDing for a few months with my middle son.
We used pockets at first but then went to AIO's and liked them much better.
Unfortunately, my son had weight issues and the diapers seemed to overpower him so we switched. I then gave all my CD's to a friend who had a baby boy and wanted to do it.
Its nice when you can afford the initial buying and if you can handle washing the poopy ones...you are good to go LOL.

I cloth diaper. I use the bumgenius 3.0 OS dipes. I love them. It's all I've used though so I don't really know much about the others. I love the pocket though because I just stuff them and they're easily ready for DH or the sitters to use on him. We've never had anyone who watched him complain about having to change his and said they're pretty similar to sposies. If you have any ?s I'll try to answer them.

I forgot to add we didn't put Will in the CDs until he was 3.5 weeks old. We used sposies until then to get past the tar butt and the big blowouts.
