Had A Scare Today

I took Rylee and Chandler grocery shopping with me this afternoon. Rylee got a cookie, and the bakery man gave Chandler one too without even asking me first:rolleyes:I gave him a few small pieces, then I took a bite, and gave the rest to Rylee. Chandler was not happy with that, and had a little tantrum in the cart. All of a sudden, he hit his mouth on the handle bars of the cart, and his mouth was full of blood. I picked him up and looked and just saw tons of blood coming out. I called DH to see where he was because i was freaking out with all the blood and he was screaming. I left my stuff in the cart, and told the lady at the front of the store that we had to go. She asked if he fell out of the cart, and I told her no he hit his mouth on the handle bar. Once I got to the car, I saw that piece of skin connecting from the gums to the upper lip was busted. I called his pediatrician because I thought he might need stitches. I needed them when I was young because I had a cut too. Luckily he didn't need any. She said to just stay away from crumbly foods, and to put a cold compress on it when we got home. He wanted nothing to do with the cold compress, but ate his dinner fine, and drank his milk tonight fine too. He had a hard time falling asleep, so I gave him some Motrin for the pain. My shirt is stained with blood, but I am glad he is ok.

That is scary! I would've been freaking too especially just by seeing a lot of red blood. I'm glad to hear he is okay though. :support: They're tough little guys!

auw poor guy! I'm horrible with anything to do with blood with William.
He hit his mouth the other day at my parents and split his lip a bit, there was a TINY bit of blood and I started freaking out and yelling "there's blood, there's blood...OMG what do I DO?" lol my mom just laughed at me. And William wasn't even crying!

I think it's a moms job to freak and a babys/toddlers job to recover quickly!:hugs:

How awful! It just freaks you out so bad when there's blood involved. Cohen is really good at falling and bustin his mouth on stuff. I hope little Chan-Man feels better soon. :support:

:hehe: I don't do well with blood either but I internalize the freaking out and stay calm on the outside. Probably not healthy but I do let myself freak out once the crisis has been averted.

He is doing better. I just need to watch his teeth now because I don't really know if he them also or not. If he did, I need to watch for discoloration, and then call the dentist if they do start to change. I hope he didn't hit them also.
