View Full Version : I've officially lost the Dora battle

I fought and I fought. I lost. I can't stand Dora or her cousin Diego. I don't understand why they have to yell all the time and their Spanish really isn't that good. The extra long pauses, the lack of good music or story line, and I'll be mean....her horrible haircut... they all drive me nuts! Yet, the other day while in a desperate panic to calm Charlie I reluctantly turned it on. He watched it, he interacted with it, he laughed, and worst of all.... he enjoyed it!! If I was a cruel horrible woman I may never do it again, but he saw it while I was flipping channels and said "This!" "This" was my horrible horrible cue that yes, Dora and her cousin Diego have entered my life and I fear I may be subjected to all the yelling, pauses, and annoying behaviors of these two Nickelodeon icons.
May my sanity rest in peace.

I am right there with you. :bluehug: Dora ranks right up there with Caillou and Barney in my books but Ben absolutely adores her. He shrieks when we see her in stores. Worse, I know the words to those damn songs. "I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map!". :runhills:

We haven't seen this, thank God! I don't think I can take any more kid shows! Especially if they're that obnoxious! (how many exclamation points can I use in this reply??!!!!!)

I spent a couple of years living with my niece who was heavy into Dora. You'll learn to tune it out :hehe:.

:hehe:
Dora is pretty annoying! I only watch shows that I find entertaining...that's why most of the day we watch the Food Network.

I know the feeling. The little boy I use to babysit loved both. We watched them everyday I had him.
Now Conner doesn't really care to sit and watch tv but if that's on he will watch it for a little. Maybe it's the yelling that they like. lol

In 2000, i lost the battle to Barney. Dylan grabbed a doll at Target when she was 8 months old and fell in love.
It took us years to remove Barney from our home.
But Dylan was happy...so...the things we do for love.

Tes, Alice likes Barney, too. And she has a weird 6th sense for when it's on, too. Whenever we're shopping and she sees a DVD of it, she grabs it. But we've yet to buy any for her. I think once a day, 5 days a week, is quite enough :eyeroll:

Oh, the fun stuff to come. At least as Jorja's getting older there's more of a variety now and Jasia plays along.

Chandler likes Dora and Diego, but prefers Dora! Welcome to the club:hehe:
OMG I hate Dora but it was great because it kept the boys so quiet!

Awww we LOVE Caillou! :hehe: Dylan still watches it.
I didn't mind Dora so much, but I felt really guilty when Dora would ask a question and Dylan would answer her ( :hehe: ) as if she was real. I felt like I was lying to my kid or something.
So far, Aidan isn't into ANYTHING. Well, she loves music. I am wondering when she'll get attached to a character, if at all? By this age, Dylan was OBSESSED with Barney.

Yeah I'm not crazy for Dora or Diego either! I guess we haven't really given J a chance to become obsessed with anything but Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!!! :hehe: We've DVR'ed all the episodes, so if he's not on tv we can still watch him :)) He likes the new show Chugginton 2 so that helps to mix it up a bit ;) The only show I refuse to watch is Spongebob and I agree Caillou is annoyingly perfect but if it kept his attention I'd cope! :hehe:

I'm so glad DD and DS are out of the dora stage. It does help that we don't have cable.

They are very annoying! With our schedule we do not get to watch it often but if there is something on when we are home he really doesn't want to watch anything....he would rather play or whine...:hehe:

Agreed. I want to spank him & I don't even believe in spanking!
I dvr the stuff Cash loves that I like too, like Kipper and Thomas. He watched Dora once at the doctor's office & he was not interested, which made me happy!
