I took Chandler to the doctor today for his 1year check-up. We saw the new doctor. Everything was good:))He weighs 23 1/4 pounds, is 30 or 31 inches I think, and his head was 18 1/2. He was just below the 75% on everything except his head which was a little over 90%. The doctor said that's good because she has seen so many overweight kids*strike one* Then she started going down her list of things that he is doing. She asked if he was walking or talking, and I said he is babbling, but not talking, and he is not walking. She said that he should be walking by now*strike two*I told her that I always heard that boys are slower with walking and talking, and she with verbal skills yes, but motor skills, they are quicker. She then goes on to ask if he is eating table food and if he's feeding himself. I told he does eat solids, some stuff he still can't do yet with the little amount of teeth he has, but he is doing good. I said he eats cheerios and baby goldfish, and she says to watch him because those are easy to choke on*strike three*I do watch him, is what I told her. She was not very nice and had a terrible bed side mannor. I think I might have found a new pediatrician, but they don't have weekend hours, which isn't that bad, but I like Saturday hours. Anyways, he got his MMR, Hep A, and Chicken Pox vaccine's today. He cried, but is fine now. I hate putting him through that, but know it's for the best. I can't wait to meet the new doctor. Now I just need to get up the nerve to call the old office and get Rylee and Chandler's files.
ETA~>I asked her what if he's not walking or talking by his next appointment, and she said he would need to see a speech therapist and go through physical therapy.
I called the office to find out what all I needed to do to get their files, and I need to go in to fill out a release form, and then it's $1.00 per page for the 1st 25 pages, and .25cents for each page after that. Rylee has been going there since she was born, and has baisically lived there up until the age of 5. I m going to have to pay out the wazoo for her files!!!!!!

WHAT?!?! OMG definitely switch doctors, that is nuts! Cash was an early walker, but he didn't say much until after he turned 2. He never said mamma until he was 18 months. This jerky lady doctor I took him to at 14 months said that I should just not come when he cried and FORCE him to say it because he should be saying it at that age.
Then she lied to me and gave him the MMR against my wishes/without my knowledge. So yeah, don't see a doctor you don't like, ever!

Ugh, what a horrible doctor!! I actually walked out of the appt I had with Lily's pedi on Mon, and found a new one, but that's a different story. Anyway, um, walking is a range, and certainly not mandatory by their first birthday. Lily was rolling and crawling super early, and though she cruises on furniture and with her toy walkers, she's not walking yet. And Tyler was never a big talker. Seriously, what is wrong with her??
I don't blame you , I would be out of there immediately. I'm sorry you had to deal with that! :support:

If you find a pediatrician that you want to switch to, most doctors will fax the chart there for free. If you personally want their chart, then it will cost you a ton.
See if they have that option to save you some money! And you can get an abbreviated chart for your own personal records. It usually has their immunization chart and notes from the most recent physical exams.
She likes a certified idiot! Physical therapy? He's a year old not 5 for God's sake! And Speech therapy?? She needs to relax.
I'd be finding a new pedi also.

Awwww sorry you are having a bad experience. I wouldn't pay for the records. I'd just ask for a copy of both of their shot records, then when you find a new pedi the new pediatrician's office can ask for the records and won't cost you anything! My pedi's in Zephyrhills, that's too far for you, but I'm sure there are lots of good ones in your area. My niece and nephew go to a pedi off of fletcher I think it is, near UCH. Good luck sweetie!
By the way, Emma wasn't eating people food till over one year!!!!!! And she still takes a bottle, wonder what you're pedi would say about that! lmao

For a good pedi, might be worth the drive!

Wtf? Aidan is a girl and didn't walk until she was 1 year and 1 week old. She just recently started REALLY eating table food (no jars and no purees). She says words but doesn't really "talk".
I'd get a new doctor and I'd not let this doctor get you down.

Ack, sorry you have to deal with all of that hassle(getting the records and such). Hopefully the new pediatrician is 10x better than the last.
