My sister was going to surprise me with a Mother's Day gift for baby yoga at the hosiptal here but I was feeling kinda uncomfortable with the whole idea of exercising in front of people (I'm a little self concious right abotu now with how my body looks and feels) so I asked her if I could pick something else. (she asked me which session I wanted so surprise was ruined)

I am taking Matthew to a Music Together class starting June 23rd. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!

I used to take the boys and we had so much fun. They basically just sing songs and play instruments and you dance around and do all sorts of stuff. But you also learn rhythm and all that jazz.

Anyone take their kids to any classes??
Here is the website if anyone is interested: http://www.musictogether.com

I haven't yet, but I would really like to. I noticed there is some kindof kid gym in the building where I might be working. I'll have to check it out! Sounds like fun for you! Farah goes to 90 bagillion classes a week.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Lily. We did a music class with Tyler for a little while, but neither of us loved it that much. When he starts preschool in the fall, I'll probably look for something for Lily, though I don't know what I'll find around here..

I can't wait to hear how it goes!!

I did! Until Charlie got to the toddler age and it became warm out. We have so much more fun outside playing!!! We loved the classes and it's great to see him interact with other kids. I feel he's so much more outgoing now because of it. Or....he's just an outgoing kid :teeth:

We've never been to any classes although I always have wanted too. I just don't know where to look. It also doesn't help that I am shy and keep to myself either.

Cindy try music together. I think they are all over.

I absolutely loved it and know I will again!

Oh and the kids loved it too

There is one 10 miles from us! Maybe I'll have to check it out! Maybe it'll help me meet Mom's with kids Conner's age since they don't have any playgroups or anything down here. :)

Cindy you should also try meetup.com for playgroups in your area- they are usually everywhere!

That's where I have looked Ashley and there isn't any close. Just my luck.

We have done Music Together before and Talia loved it. Jackson just loved running around and sitting on her guitar case. Bah!

We've done a lot of classes. One of my favorites was "Cooking up a Story" where each week, they'd read a book to them, play a game related to its theme, and then the toddlers would 'make' a snack that related to the book. So much fun!

This coming session Jackson is doing "Picnic Basket", where every week the class (They meet outside at a park) decorates a basket with a certain theme, and then plays games and does crafts related to that theme. Talia is taking a dance class and a pre-school summer camp (No Mommy!), and both of the toddlers are doing swimming classes. Tasha gets nothing and she better not complain!

Cindy, I don't remember where you live, but I know that MOMS Club International can connect you to a neighborhood group. They will even help you start a chapter (I think all you need are 3 moms?). Just something to look into! :)

I went to meetup.com

They actually have one in Stamford and I was thinking of joining. I'm always so fearful I won't get along with anyone and then be stuck.

You won't be stuck. I started a playgroup here and they kinda took off on their own. I haven't been going lately and the group is doing fine! It's definitely worth doing just to see if there are other moms for you to meet and maybe connect. (Oh, and so you don't become a depressed SAHM :P)

Jo, I joined two different meetups down here, and it has been good to get some socialization. The second one I'm going to this week, we'll see how it goes. I'm not a huge fan of groups, but since we don't know anyone down here it's been worthwhile. Worse case scenario, you can just stop going!
