So I didn't want to derail Jo's thread about the carseat issue so I thought I'd start a new thread.
It's happened to all of us one time or another (or another and another...) where we do something that puts us into the "worse Mom of the year" award.
So I'm wondering, which ones have happened to you?
Roll off the bed?
Fall out of a high chair?
Fall down the stairs?
Isabella has done 2 of those... Both at my parents (super over protective parents...) at Christmas time. DH was upstairs changing her diaper and she lunged off the side of the bed. Later that day (and for whatever reason my husband thought it would be a GREAT idea to teach her to climb their stairs) she was trying to get down the stairs backwards and got her leg caught under her and fell directly back off the bottom stair and sideways into the kitchen and into the cat's food/water dieshes  haha. I was livid.
So yesterday- I was in the livingroom while Isabella was playing. She'll often to into the front entry way and look out the window and play with the shoes.
So it occurred to me that I hadn't heard her make any sounds for awhile so I peeked down the hallway and noticed that my husband forgot to lock the baby gate. So of course I panicked and expected to see her about half way up the stairs- only she wasn't there. I ran up the stairs and right straight into our bedroom (another place she loves to explore) and I couldn't find her... went into the master bath, no baby. Went into the laundry room, no Isabella.
Finally I ran into her bedroom and saw her standing there pulling EVERY ARTICLE OF CLOTHING out of her dresser... she saw me and had this HUGE smile on her face as if to say "HAHA you found me!" And then she squealed, crawled over and gave me a kiss.
I wanted to cry and scream and hit my DH all at the same time.
Ok. Share your stories now that I feel like a terrible Mom :hehe:

I locked Dylan in the car by accident when she was about 10 months old. I was getting gas and closed the door not realizing my keys were on the seat.
:hehe:
AAA was there 5 minutes once I calmed down long enough to say, "MY BABY IS LOCKED IN MY CAR!!!!"
:hehe:
Last week, I was pulling on something and my hand slipped and flew back, socking Aidan in the face.
She cried and I snuggled her, felt like crap....then she stopped crying and just -- stared at me for a good 10 seconds, like, :wtf:
:roflol:
OMG! When Dylan was in Kindergarten, we were getting into the car and there was this HUGE puddle by the door (it was raining). I said, be careful and just climb in...
Well, she climbed up on the edge of the door frame, slipped and landed on her butt in the HUGE PUDDLE! Of course she's crying and all embarrassed.
What am I doing? Trying my hardest not to make my laughter audible (she's very sensitive) and wiping tears from my eyes.
I don't know why it was so funny...but damit, it was. To this day, she'll bring it up..."remember when you laughed when I fell in the puddle?" She laughs now though :hehe: I felt horrible...but I just couldn't stop laughing.

I don't know what you're talking about. I'm perfect.
When I'm less tired I'm sure I'll remember something.
Oh I'll get my list ready
I took Matt for a walk when he was about 2 months and it was only up the block so I didn't strap him into the snugride. Well when I left the gas station store (I went to get lotto for my BIL) there was a step and I tipped the carriage and Matt almost fell out. A man was standing there and caught the carriage on the bottom for me and I felt so stupid and said "that wouldn't have been good" OMG I felt like the dumbest person.
I made a sling for Matt and tried to get him in it. Well I almost dropped him because apparently I'm not really good at making slings that work.
I put Matt to bed and forgot to put up the crib rail. Oh yeah, that would not have been good at all.
I'm sure I have more. So I'll be back.

Cash fell out of our very high bed onto wood floor when he was about 10 months old. I felt better about it after I mentioned it at the playgroup the next day and all the other moms (with older kids) looked at me like "Yeah? Is there more to the story?" and I was like "No, he just cried but he seemed fine" and they all shrugged and said how it had happened to all their kids.
And I locked Cash in the car at the grocery store when he was 16 months old, literally a week after reading the "What to do if you lock your baby in the car" story in Parents.
Sean let him play in the car with the keys a few months ago, so of course he locked himself in, but we managed to get him to push the unlock button on the remote (after a lot of crying and freak out) before we called the cops to come get him out.

Well go ahead and get DFCS on the line......
:hehe:
Both of my have fallen off the bed, multiple times...Couches...Chairs....DD fell off the chair the other day. DS has fallen off the changing table...I remember when DS was a newborn and I'd cradle him, I wasn't use to that extra room where his head would stick out further than the width of my body, and there was several times I'd whack his head on the door frame....
I cut DSs fingernails as a baby and I dunno what happened but his poor finger ended up infected and he had to get on antibiotics.
DD has a scar on her arm from my hair straightener. :( I had it away from her while it was in use, I had her on the bathroom counter, I got done, turned off the iron, put it on the counter, went to get her, got distracted, and she went for the iron.
I can't remember that I've ever forgotten to buckle them in, but I wouldn't doubt it...I recently forgot to buckle DS in, but he quickly said "Mommy I'm not buckled" before I left the drive way. Which is weird because he's a pro at unbuckling while I'm driving down the road.
I know I'll remember more...
I swear, I love my kids! It's hard alone! And my bed is now bed railed all the way down the side and the other side is up against the wall. :))

Oh yeah, the first time I snipped Isabella's nails when she was first born I ended up snipping the tip off and OMG it bled forever!! I felt like the worse Mom in the world.

Sean did that to Cash when he was like a week old, OMG he threw down the nail clippers and started cussing and ran out of the room, he was SO upset! He wouldn't even try to clip Cash's nails again for almost a year!

I knicked Lily while trimming her nails!! It's traumatizing.
Tyler rolled off the couch. It was really quite shocking because that kid never moved :hehe:
Hmm, let me see.. Oh, I have one! my dh is always "scaring" Tyler and vice versa. Well, the one day I was holding Lily and was standing around the corner. She was all giggly, and when Tyler came out we went "boo!" I guess he was still half asleep, because he screamed in full out fright. Then, since he screamed so loud, Lily started crying. Omg, I felt awful. And, to make matters worse (*really* bad mom moment here) I felt the need to laugh. It was horrible

:hehe: we're all great moms....we're just REAL!
I can't think of many, but William has fallen out of our bed. He was probably 10 months old....I had moved him to the outside because I was just waiting until he dozed off so I could put him back in his crib and then we both fell asleep. I woke up to him crying (not hard) and sitting on the floor beside the bed looking up at me! I think he fell like that (sitting up) somehow...so it wasn't too bad. But still to this day even if I KNOW he's safe in his crib, when the dog jumps off the bed and makes a thunk I'm up like a shotgun looking for William on the floor! Hubby just tells me to go back to sleep.
He's also fallen while crawling up the stairs...where he had his mouth open and hit the edge of the step. He had a bit of a fat lip...but I was worse off than him. He had been playing with Hubby and my brother...so I blamed them! lol
And while I haven't forgotten to buckle William in his carseat, I have pinched his chubby leg.
And I have accidently turned around quickly and ran into him or knocked him over....he's very dramatic when you do this to him...he cries soooo hard and acts so hurt, even tho I KNOW he just fell on his butt from being unbalanced! :hehe: As soon as I pick him up to cuddle him and say sorry the tears turn off and he's happy...but he thinks I do it on purpose or something!

I keep trying to think of my bad days but every time I think of something, it was Mike's fault! There's gotta be something... this is bugging me. I will remember SOMETHING.

I swear the daycare probably think I beat Nathaniel. He ran into me one day and fell and hit his head on the baseboard and ended up having this HUGE popknot on his forehead.
Not even a week later he got out of his bed and had this scrape that was about 2 inches long and about 3 inches wide in front of his ear.
I also accidentally hit him with things when he's been under-foot.
And I have "abuse" pictures of him playing under a laundry basket when he was really little.

Let's see...just the other day I was walking the dog and didn't see Aiden right behind me. The dog and I tripped Aiden and he fell head first onto concrete. He had a HUGE knot on his forehead. :(
Oh, and the other night I let Aiden climb up the stairs to get to his room. Well he turned to laugh at me and he fell down a few stairs. I felt bad for not being right behind him.

I locked Josh in the truck one time. I hit the lock button instead of the unlock button and closed my door to walk around the other side to get him out. I freaked! Thankfully I wasn't too far from home and DH brought me the spare keys quickly.
He also fell out of his crib. The bar that held the drop down didn't latch all the way and I didn't notice. He didn't even cry.
I've been lucky with Hannah, so far.

I made matt lamb last week and DH was feeding him. He said "he's been chewing on this piece for awhile." I was like oh it's just his teeth bothering him. Come to find out I didn't fish out all the bones. Good God.

When Dylan was 4, I told her I'd pay her a dollar if she was nice at my mom's house :roflol: I just didn't want to deal with my mom's "suggestions" to help Dylan be more social.
She was good. She got the dollar.

We were shopping at Lowe's one day and Gabriel was being particularly fussy and the only thing that would make him happy was sitting in the basket of the cart - not the child seat part. He was standing and sitting and having a blast. Next thing we know he's taking a header out the front. Luckily DH was walking near him and grabbed the waistband of his pants before he smashed his head on the concrete floor - that would have been BAD! But there was me, however many months pregnant, nearly letting my child practically kill himself, while a handful of shoppers looked on. I felt like the worst Mom ever!
Shortly after we brought Caitlin home I had wrapped her in one of those swaddle me blankets, the kind with the pockets for hands and velcro and whatnot. I had just nursed her and had her up on my shoulder for burping and was doing something on the laptop. I look over and she's blue!! The blanket had gone up around her neck and was choking her! I whipped it off and hid it in the closet. Never using that one again.

Me too. I cried for like an hour after that. I felt like the worst failure as a mom...

Nooooo  Not a failure...you stopped her from choking!
I felt like a douche 2 winters ago, when Dylan had her 4th grade Christmas program and told me THAT MORNING  Sure, I could have fanoogled my boss into letting me come late (we have to give a week's notice) but I had been asking Dylan about her program for at least 2 weeks and she said she didn't get a note home. Well, she found it that morning and it was dated 2 weeks earlier.
I didn't go :(
But...she has NEVER forgotten to give me a note since.
(her dad went though).
I felt AWFUL...but it was one of MANY times she "forgot" to do something or give us something and I was sick of running around at the last minute. I had to let the balls fall...and she realized she can't do that.
I still felt like a douche.
You're not a bad mom Becky :bluehug:

Katelyn fell off our guest bed when she was about 4 months old or so ... she had not learned how to roll over yet.. so I was changing her on the bed and I turned to grab a burp cloth because she spit up a little and she took THAT very second to learn how to flip from back to belly and she just kinda tumbled off the bed. I was away from her for 3 seconds and *THUD* right onto the wood floor. She was so not happy with me.
One time I was carrying the twins in (in their infant seats) and I tripped on the curb. Dropped both the seats, Katelyn was on her side, Brandon was on his side.. and I was there on the ground with a twisted ankle. She was looking at me like "WTF Mom?" and Brandon? Sleeping. LOL!
And just the other day I forgot to close the doors to the kitchen while I was changing Brandon and came out and found Katie crunching an egg shell out of the garbage can in her hands and laughing at me when I went "OMG KATIE EWWWWWW"
I've got more, but for now they're up and I'm being beckoned. :)

Ok... do you ladies want to hear the worst thing ever?
I've never admitted this to anyone in my life.
So I have this weird fear of waking Isabella during nap time... so if I go pee while she's napping I refuse to flush the toilet- despite the fact that she is upstairs, with a white noise machine, and her door closed and I'm downstairs. Whatever, I'm just paranoid haha.
Anyway soo... we always keep the powder room door downstaires closed otherwise she'll unroll the whole roll of TP.
So I was having a rough day and forgot and left the bathroom door open. I saw her go in and figured whatever she's being quited for a few minutes, an unrolled roll of toilet paper is worth the 5 minutes of silence.
Until I heard "splash splash splash" OH ****E!
I ran in there (thank GOD it was only pee) and she was playing in the toilet bowl. She was soaked and had the biggest smile on her face.
That's pretty gross right?
The worse part?
Where's the barf smilie....
wait for it.....
She had wet toilet paper in her mouth. Yup. She ate some of the TP from the toilet.
Seriously.
I expected to see CPS at my door later that day.
:puke:
OH MY ****ING GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd!!!!!!! :roflol:
I can not stop laughing!!!!!!!
Becky

You should save that story for a laugh when she's older!
