another TMI period question!

I have been wanting to ask this, but feel kind of silly!

I'm on my third period since we weaned and my pain seems to be less than before I got pregnant....but it's literally the amount and colour that worries me!

From what I remember, my period was always around 5 days. First day was medium, then 2 heavy days tapering off and spotting on the other two days. The colour is usually dark then brown.....or brown then dark red then brown again.


This month...my period came about 4 days early. It started out sunday as really bright red spotting (hubby and I had DTD that day and I figured it was just from that) Then the next day I was getting ready for work and I noticed something was "wet" so I went to go pee and check and I had basically bled all over my underwear. Also bright red. I didn't really have bad cramping or any pains.....a BIT of a discomfort on Monday....but that was really it.

Now it's Thursday night and I've been bleeding bright red since then. It's tapered off a bit....but then it seems I go pee and it's a bunch again. It's also hasn't changed in colour. (as a side note, it's not enough to SOAK a pad or tampon....but it's been what I'd call heavy period amount for the whole time)


Can ANYONE help me out here.

It's probably just a surge of new hormones. But I'm not a doctor. :hehe:

mine was off a lot at first, it's actually makes a year this month that i started my period and only now does it seem to be better. I too had lots of red blood and i use to be 4 days and now it's like 6.

It will probably take a while before you're back to 'normal'. Your hormones are out of whack from weaning. Hormones mess everything up. :hehe:

I went for just over a year (I think) without having a period after having Ben and when it did finally come back it was crazy. The only thing that was normal (or, in my case, abnormal) was that is was regular, coming every 27-28 days without fail (unless I was taking BCP I was never regular in my menstruating life). Other than that it was nothing like what it was before with virtually everything being the opposite to what it was.

Is it the color you're concerned about? I've had two periods since Brendon, and a good amount of the time was spent with bright red bleeding as opposed to the darker red I had before kids. Very minimal cramping, but a heavy flow of bright red. I didn't even think to be worried about it :hehe:. I think it's probably a version of "normal" for postpartum women.

it seems to be slowing down. I just hadn't ever seen that much bright red!

My periods were bright red also for awhile. Then they went back to normal and I cried!
