So I bought a training potty for DS just so he would get used to it and perhaps sit on it a few times. We accidentally caught pee in it the first day, but that was a while ago. I really haven't put him on since.

Well, today I was changing his diaper and he tooted. I also wanted to air him out a bit since he has had a bit of a rash. I had to use the potty myself so I just brought him in with me and I sat down. He walked right over to his toilet and peed next to it! So I quickly place him onto the toilet and let him sit there with a book while I went back to pee. We sit there a bit talking to each other (I wanted to see how long he'd go) and I made some silly grunts and pushing noises that he mimicked. Suddenly he said "Ah dun (All done" and wanted off. I take him off and BAM! There's a poop in there!!!!!! I praised and clapped and made a big deal out of it. :thewave:

Fast forward to bed time. I changed his diaper and was letting him air out so I put him on his potty in front of the TV and he sat on it for 25 minutes!! Nothing. Oh well, better luck next time. I pick up his potty and take it to the bathroom as I get his bath ready. He walks in and PEES right next to the toilet again! This time though I see poop on his leg  So I go wipe him up, put him on his potty, and walked out to get a paper towel. What do I find?? A turd on the floor. Apparently he pooped as he was walking to the bathroom. I clean that up and come back to the bathroom. He says "Ah dun" and I take him off. What do I see?? MORE POO! I clap and say "Yay" He sees it. He claps! I put it in the toilet and told him to say "Bye bye poopy" and he said "Bye bye, oo" and waved. :hi:

I guess this means I should start trying to potty train him? I wasn't expecting on really doing it for at least a few more months, and even then it was going to be a half hearted attempt before next summer

Should I start? Or could this just be a fluke? I mean the kid's only 16 months old!

I wouldn't force it but I'd keep doing what you're doing. I've never done potty training but it sounds like he might be ready early! Yay for Mama!!

Gooooo Charlie! :hula:

Holy crap! (pun intended... :p)

I think it's worth a shot! Give it a try for a few days and see how it goes. This may be it! :twothumbs:

I agree, I would go with it and see if it works. My mother said I was just over a year when I was potty trained (my sister was 2, my half brother 3). So just go based on him- if he wants to and is up for it, go for it! Kids know what they want!

And Yay Charlie!! :hula:

THAT IS AWESOME!! I think if you keep making it fun for him he will get to be consistent!

Knowing how patient you are with Charlie, I think you can actually pull this off. Good luck! ;)

Sounds like he enjoys the potty! That is awesome that you won't have to force him. I'm a big fan of duct tape and the potty...:p

Sounds like he's showing signs. I'd do what you are doing, don't stress or push but let it go how what he does. He might just continue to try. :hula:

So here's the update:

Yesterday we were 0 for 2. He pooped in his diaper twice. I missed them, but no biggie. Like I said, I'm not going to freak about it.

Today after his breakfast I put him on the potty and we got a big pee! He wasn't that enthusiastic about saying "Bye bye" to it, but oh well. Then later on I put him on the toilet for 25 minutes because I heard some tooting going on. He sat for a while and finally said "ah dun" and I took him off the potty and he proceeded to poop right there on the floor. :look:

Then after dinner he was making some tooters and I finished his dinner up and put him on the potty in front of the TV. We read a bit and I could hear him pooping and peeing. Sure enough we got a big poopy and peepee! He did say "Bye Bye" to the poop.

I guess we're taking little steps here. He's not so much telling me that he's wanting to go as much as I'm happening to time it right. Or maybe he is telling me and I just don't know it? :idontknow:
