I wasn't sure where to post this since it isn't exactly pregnancy-related yet I saw the midwife for this today so I am putting it under Women's Health.

Anyway, I have had a mole on my neck since as long as I can remember. Some time in the past year it has changed...A LOT!!! So, it looks pretty concerning and I went to get it checked out. The nurse took one quick peek and then started scheduling me a "stat" appointment to see the doctor that removes such things. She was very concerned that the soonest appointment looked to be over two weeks away and said "OH no, you need to be seen sooner than that". Now, I don't know if that's because it looks so gnarly or if it's because I am pregnant or what. I honestly don't want to know!

I got the runaround again about my 17P injections but that's definitely another thread all together!!

I go back to have the mole checked on Thursday morning and we'll talk about when/if removal is neccessary. I am pretty worried but trying not to freak out. I *know* it's nothing horribly serious but it still concerns me (kwim??). So, anyone ever have a mole that changed like this? Anyone have any experience they'd like to share with me to calm my nerves a little? Anyone want to freak out FOR me so I don't have to???

Anyway, here is a picture of what the mole USED to look like and what it looks like now. WARNING, these are GROSS pictures so do NOT scroll down. I will make some room for the faint of heart ;)

The bottom one is what my mole USED to look like. That is almost the exact size, shape and color of what it was like for years and years:

This is what it looks like now :puke:

I have had some moles change and have had many many removed. I don't know if I've had a change that dramatic, but the one or two that I had that visibly had changed came back as atypical - ie.) precancer.

My dad has had melanoma twice, so we don't mess around with those things. It's a really good thing you went and got it checked. Neither of his melanomas were raised moles like that. My dad is a moley person, but they have both been flat.

Hopefully it is just atypical or something like that. :support:

I'm a mole queen. :hehe: Seriously, I've got them all over.

LMAO! I have two HUGE moles on my back that actually look like the middle mole in your top 3 before pics. I hate them. They won't remove them because they say right now they aren't of any concern.

I had a mole in my belly button that I had to have removed. I'm a wuss when it comes to needles. Or use to be anyways before I went to school for MA. Anyways, I had to put numb cream on it hours before "surgery" and then they asked me if I could feel the needles. I said no. So they decided I didn't need a numb shot. WTH ever. So they get to cutting, and OMG it hurt. He told me if it hurts to tell him and they'll give me the shot. He lied, he kept saying, almost done. BS. Anyways, they got done, it didn't take long really.

I was told IF it came back as pre-cancer I'd have to have more skin cut out to remove all possible cancer cells.

Well I got a call telling me that it was pre-cancer, but the results showed that everything was removed and I wouldn't need any additional "surgery". Scares the crap out of me. I sometimes wonder how are they sure there aren't any cells still in me...And how come the won't remove any other of my big moles.

I had a couple cut off at my last appt, but I'm assuming they came back negative because I never heard anything. They were small, just dark I think.

I'm supposed to get a full body mole check every 6 months...But I no longer go because I don't have insurance.

Anyways, I don't have any that look like that...But it's definitely a concern once they start to change shape and/or color, from what I've been told.

I have a ton of moles also. Several removed off my back and even my head.. like the top of my head.. crazy. I know some of mine started to look a little larger while I was pregnant but then they went back to normal afterwards. Hope all goes well and that they aren't anything except an annoying mole

I am not holding out hope this one would "go back" :hehe:

I guess I am just hoping they whack the icky old thing off and that's the end of it for good! I am keeping that thought in my mind and just glad I don't have to wait long to find out.

Oh, so scary, Sandy! I probably wouldn't want to know major details, I'd FREAK.:support:

I have one on the side of my neck that grew while I was pregnant with Rhys and then again with Leif. I've never asked about it though. Maybe I should?

Yes, definitely get it looked at if it changed. Can't hurt just to make sure, kwim? :support:
