This is the 2nd or 3rd month in a row this has happened. I can't tell if it's an infection or allergies! We have sex, the next day I'm itching down there like mad! No smell, no nasty discharge. Which throw me off, aren't yeast infections always stinky with discharge? I just itch like a biotch! Also, my husband is uncirced and he hadn't taken showers before we dtd this last time. But the times before, he wore condoms. So, I don't think it's connected - I don't know. I just know I've had this issue since he and I have been together and I'm sick of it! We're both STD/HIV/AIDs free.

I have used Monistat, Rephresh and Replens - I did that last month and it finally cleared up. This month I've only used rephresh.

Also, this always happens after ovulation. Any correlation?

I take that back, it's tender, but that's from me itching it. Just sore labia.

They have vagisil for itch...although, in my experience, an itch without pain is always my sign of the beginning of an infection so I pop in a monistat 1. :hehe: I'm fine the next day.

It could be sensitivity to his semen. My sister was allergic to her first husband's. (Big red flag there! ;) he was a d-bag)

I'll grab a monistat one today and try it out. I can't use Vagisil, it burns me really bad. My OB told me I have a very sensitive vagina, which I know. I just can't figure out what's causing this each month!

Probably sensitivity to semen...I'd try the monistat. it comes with cream...if it doesn't, buy some monistat labia cream. It's awesome.

My sister had this issue with her ex. It turned out it was the alkaline levels in his semen seriously screwing with her pH levels down there.

But didn't you say that he wore condoms the first two times? So it wouldn't be semen....are you using lube?

I am a vagina issue queen! No joke!

I have consistent vaginal itching! I have been tested for everything the health dept said they could...NOTHING....I also try yeast cream, vaginal moisturizer...Nothing helps....Tried vagisil, and it burns like hell for me too! I've been suffering from this just suddenly...It started during my pregnancy with my son and never went away. I have cracking alot with the itching and severe tenderness. I hope you find answers, but if it's like mine, they may not be any! :(

Mine flares up right around ovulation and right before and after my period...I'm literally almost never free of this!

Yeah, he wore condoms, so it may be partially semen, but it's not the root cause. I'm thinking it may also be diet?

Bootysaurus
04-17-2010, 08:08 PM
Your diet? Or his...

Maybe it's your panties...mixed with discharge at certain times of the month? This can cause infections and stuff. Do your panties breathe? :hehe: What an odd question.

Jane99
04-18-2010, 01:04 AM
My diet. Too much starch or sugar.

I think so. They're 100% cotton. Aren't those the best kind?

I also am wondering if our crappy washing machines aren't to blame. They don't clean our clothes good, so I bet there's left over soap residue. Ew. And god knows what else.

Can you get an STD from public washing machines. I have never thought about that, but now I'm freaking out!

My sister would get itchy before her AF. No reason whatsoever either.

(and i like the title!)

I was told to rinse my undies and extra time, to see if that was my problem...It wasn't but maybe you should try!

Jojo
04-18-2010, 08:07 AM
Maybe wash your undies in a baking soda vinegar rinse??

Bootysaurus

You can't get an STD from the laundromat.

Jane99
04-18-2010, 12:24 PM
Hmm good idea, Jo! I think I'll try that when I was next time. The Monistat one didn't help at all.

Jojo
04-18-2010, 06:25 PM
Or if your DH washes his penis before sex maybe the soap he uses is irritating??

If the monistat didn't help, then it's not a yeast/candida thing.

Bummer.. :( Did you tear or anything? Sometimes after rough sex, and I tear, it itches like HELL

dixielanddelight
04-18-2010, 06:51 PM
It *could* still be yeast...I've been told my problem could be yeast, though I don't see how it could cause this much issues, but even after yeast pills and creams and such, I still have the problem and they still see a little yeast there, most the time anyways.

I have a high sugar diet.

Monistat rarely works for me. I took the 7 day one once and still had the Yeast infection. I had to take diflucan. Same went for when I was pregnant. Monistat did diddly squat so I had to take 1 diflucan because they wouldn't give me terazol.

Yea, the doc wanted to give me diflucan, but I just told her I'd rather use monistat :hehe: Cheaper for me and it works. But I can tell on day one of an infection. The moment I get this certain feeling, I just pop one in :hehe:

It's that tingle? ugh. I hate it. It's like a little foaming with no foam.

No tearing that I can see. I used the mirror to look. I am also sick now. I wonder if they're related at all. Yeast, AF cramps, fever, sore throat and tonsils, coughing up my lungs - I'm seriously in effin hell!!!!

Yup! That weird, raw feeling...I don't even mess with it anymore to see if it goes away.

Poor Rebekah. Sickness and vag issues suck. I am confused now on whether a condom was or was not involved, but is it possible that you are allergic to the spermicide on the condom, or to the condom itself? Some people have a latex allergy...I didn't know I did until I had my c-section and the tape they used contained latex and I got itchy rashes everywhere I was taped.

Did you try taking any benadryl - I know we were talking about giving kids benadryl the other day. If it's an allergic reaction, maybe a few doses of benadryl will block the histamine response and stop the itching? Just a suggestion, if the yeasty stuff doesn't seem to have any impact.

Lauren, I had this same issue for the past 2 months. Those months there was a condom. I do have a latex allergy. But it's so hard to find condoms without latex. I just sucked it up and used them anyway and washed really good after.

I have been taking antihistamines. I haven't noticed a difference.

I've been rubbing monistat on the outside and that keeps it from itching.

Do you think it's a dryness issue?

Bootysaurus
04-19-2010, 06:28 PM
ohhhhhhhhh I didn't get that!! You are allergic to condoms...so am I, as to why I hate using them and get the SAME ITCH and BS down there afterwards.

They do make non-latex condoms but they are expensive. I am deadly allergic to Trojans, but Lifestyles didn't bother me so much.

 I hope it gets better!

Jane99
04-19-2010, 07:16 PM
Yeah, you know our broken condom, it was a non-latex, the lamb skin kind. :hehe:

We don't need them now. ;)

I'm just wondering why I got that same itch this month when we didn't use them. Which is why I'm leaning towards dryness/semen allergy/detergent irritation.

Did you use any lube?

Maybe see a Gyno. I'm sure she'll know what it is quicker than we do!! :hehe:

Lamb skin condoms freak me out :hehe: ....just the idea of them. Not that plastic is any better up there, but...O.o

Yeah, I would go see a doctor, but I don't have insurance and I seriously don't want to pay $100 just for her to say oh it's a dry vagina or a yeast infection.

I figured out my ISSUE. It was the vaginal contraceptive film. It's got all kinds of nasty chemicals in it...so, that's probably why. I think it was causing my dryness also.

I'll be avoiding the VCF in the future.

Bootysaurus

OHHHHH REBEKAH!!! I didn't even think of that! I used VCF and a different form of vaginal spermicide before Sam was born. One of the two times I had a yeast infection, it was the result of using VCF.

It is very rough on your insides. Honestly, between being unable to use hormonal birth control, allergic to latex condoms, and reacting to the chemicals in VCF, I think it's easiest that we just do NFP.

Edit to add: I guess this thread has gotten a little bit of age on it...how is your vagina feeling now? Um. Yeah...only on mothering forums!

Jane99
04-23-2010, 01:53 PM
Haha...my period is "flushing" things out and it feels much better!

I'm like you, I just have to avoid anything in the form of birth control unless it's completely and utterly NATURAL. My vagina is just too sensitive.
