So little background info--my family doctor is pretty cool. I like him. When I was pregnant he prescribed me some eardrops because my right ear kept hurting at night. I couldn't lay on it. The drops he prescribed me were a cat C. So I went to where my MIL works and the doc there explained that eardrops aren't tested so they put them in a cat C because they just don't know.

Fine. I didn't take them though. I bought some natural drops and my OB said it's from the pregnancy and will go away when he comes out. Sure enough it did.

So I went to the doc on Wednesday (family doc) to get something for my cold sore (it hurt so bad and I figured since we no longer pay for prescriptions I might as well.)

So I tell him about 3x that I am breastfeeding and I need something I can take. He prescribes a pill and a cream. I check the pamphlet it comes with and it says on both: Check with your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medicine. The pill one actually said only take during pregnancy when absolutely necessary and he assured me that since it's safe to take during pregnancy it's safe to take while BFing.

:madwoman: I am going to find a new doctor. I haven't used either medications.

That's really annoying. You need a new doctor that respects that meds can go through breastmilk and take you seriously! Grrr for you!

Doesn't it suck that we can't trust doctors, I end up researching any drug they prescribe...I just don't trust that they always pay attention. They see so many patients.:buttkick:
