View Full Version : The things I've learned...

In Thomas's 4 short weeks I've learned a few things I thought I'd share. (These are random thoughts that usually come to me at 3 am. :hehe:)

While you can function on 2 hours of sleep (completely incoherently and it sucks) it's amazing how much better you feel after 5 or 6 hours of sleep even if those 5 or 6 hours are broken up into 2 'sleeps'.

Baby number 2 cries more than Baby number 1. Not because they're fussier but because you can't drop everything and run to pick them up. There are times when they're just going to have to cry for a few minutes like when I'm making Baby number 1's breakfast or tucking them in for a nap.

A hairdryer drastically reduces the risk of a baby boy peeing on you at every diaper change. Just aim that sucker (on low heat) at his little guy to keep it warm and no pee.

Getting dressed is a BIG accomplishment.

Getting to take a shower during the day is an even bigger accomplishment.

CBC Kids, PBS and Treehouse are my 3 best friends.

PVR's are one of the greatest inventions ever.

A laptop at 2 am is a lifesaver but typing with one hand sucks.

The laundry is never, ever done (Sandy, I don't know how you do it).

It's pity. :hehe: Two kids and I'm doing laundry every 2 days. I don't know how you do it!

The blow dryer really works! My sister used one on her son and we used it on Ben (it was an awesome big, round one) but it died so we didn't bother with one for Thomas. Well. He would pee every single diaper change so we hauled out the plain old blow dryer to use and since then, a week ago I think, I've been peed on once. :twothumbs: No more fountains here!

Elaine, I bought Aven a Fisher Price Newborn Rock and Play Sleeper and it was the best $50 I have ever spent. All of the reviews gave it 5 stars and I was at the point of desperation. I'll be damned if she didn't sleep 5 hours in it the first night, and now I get an 8 or 9 hour stretch every night. *knock on wood* I don't know how to post link's from my BB but you can google it.

Anyway, love the post! If it weren't for Shrek, I'd never get anything done! And I showered today, so it's a good day.

Every TWO DAYS!?!?! Ahhhh, that would be like a vacation around here :hehe: Thanks for the pity though!!

That blow dryer trick is pretty handy. Farah and Amanda, are you reading these tips and tricks or are John's and Andrew's fountains under control?? :hehe:

Great words of wisdom! ;)

Heather...I totally looked at that thing and I don't get how it's better than the swing?? If it works though, I totally want one with the next baby! :p

Leah, I have no idea what makes it so great. It doesn't do anything except rock when you make it rock. But it works! I'm clueless.

The blow dryer is an interesting idea...I just always changed and bathed to the side of them and that way if they aimed I was out of their way.:hehe:
