View Full Version : Eczema
Matt has Eczema.
I found it when I was putting sunblock on his arms...I guess it's the aquaphor life for me
Should I mention it at his 15 month check up? (gahhH! 15 months! :hiding:)
UPDATE: The dove and aquaphor combo has been working wonderfully! no rough patches that I could feel. :twothumbs:

I noticed a couple patches on Averie's ribs and asked about it at her 12 month checkup. The doctor said she assumes that's what it is and said to try lotion for now. If it appears to get worse then we are to bring it up again and she'll check into it more and make other suggestions.
Yes, I'd mention it (sorry, I tend to be long-winded, don't I?)

I'd mention it. Aquaphor didn't do crap for Addie's. She got the $4 prescription stuff and it was gone in a few days and hasn't come back.

Julie, was it a steroid cream they gave you for it? That's what they gave us for Averie but it was actually for a chronic diaper rash but she told us to try a tiny dab on the rough patches on her ribs. I guess because of my asthma steroids are always a "bad" thing in my mind.

Yeah, it's Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment 0.1%. It is a steroidal cream, but the nurse said it's not very strong.

Emma has it really bad. She take a bath every other day. When i wash her i use dove. I use curel healing lotion on her whole body. You also might want to change the soap you use to wash his cloths. We used ALL and it works really well. If you need anything let me know.

Thanks Holly!
The patches he has looks exactly like what the boys have and the aquaphor worked really well for them. I'm not into steroid creams for him or myself but we'll see.

I have never used them on emma either. I don't like it. So I just kept changing lotion till i found one that worked.
My MIL spoke to the allergist and he said to use DOVE bar soap (non-scented) and use aquaphor. So we're gonna try it. No baby soap or lotions whatsoever.

The hazelwood necklaces both really helped Ekaterina and Zachariah.

I have a hazelwood necklace for Isabella and it totally helped.
I sell them if you're interested *ahem* hehe...
Wait!?!?! hazelwood necklaces work for eczema? Where have i been? Jack has it pretty bad and he is prescribed the steriod cream, but i wont use it. A friend of mine from HS makes an unrefined shea butter cream that we have been using and that really helps also, we use the Dr. Bronners baby mild castille soap. How exactly do the necklaces work? *thinking i really may need one*

Basically, Hazelwood is a drug free alternative to helping neutralize the body's acidity.
It is gaining popularity as many Mom's are seeking drug free alternatives to aid with reflux in their little ones.
It relieves or prevents other ailments such as ulcers, acid reflux, heartburn, skin problems (psoriasis, eczema, acne), arthritis, constipation, migraines, sensitive & bleeding gums, helps reduce dental cavities and more.
Hazelwood necklaces are made from the branches of a hazelwood tree and I add glass and/or gemstone beads for a little extra decoration.
The necklace must be worn as much as possible - for adults, I suggest wearing the necklace over night as well as during the day. It is also recommended to wear the necklace while bathing. Be sure to keep your hazelwood moist as it aids the body in absorbing the beneficial properties of the Hazelwood.
The life span of the necklace will depend on the level of acidity of the body. In general, a necklace will maintain its medicinal benefits for 6 –12 months. Higher acidity may mean a shorter lifespan of the necklace. A necklace is losing effectiveness when the ends of the wood beads darken and/or symptoms return.

I was going to say that and it worked for me.

DH is having a hard time with the teething necklace so if I *try* to add another one to the mix he might just really flip
