I really hope I don't jinx it :hehe: but Miss Aven is doing so well with her sleep. I've got her on a 2.5 hour easy (give or take 30 min) and she's been consistently sleeping 8+ hour stretches at night for at least two weeks! She goes to bed at around 7:00pm, I do one more feed before I go to bed at 8:30, 9:00, and then she sleeps until 5:00am! I usually wake her up then because she'll start stirring and it wakes me up and I can't go back to sleep, so I'll bring her in my bed, feed her, put her in the bouncy seat beside my bed, and she goes back to sleep until I wake her up at 7:30 to give her her medicine! :hula: This is wonderful because this will work out perfectly when I return to work next week. Also, she's now napping on her own in the bassinet in my room!! I can actually get stuff done while she naps since she's not napping on me, and I can put her in there and leave her awake and she's out typically in 5 min. I started this a week or so ago and just tried it one day. She cried for 2 minutes the first time I did it and then slept two hours! :hula: :hula: :hula:
So see, maybe I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to getting a child to sleep. :hehe: I always wondered if Cohen was just an easy kid who liked to sleep, but Aven sleeps even better than he did at her age.

Jees SandyN bless your heart! Well hey, you're bound to have one out of the bunch, right? I say that God knows what he's doing because if he gave me a baby that cried all the time like Aven did in the beginning AND never slept, He knows I would've absolutely gone insane.
:bluehug:
So glad she's sleeping for you!!
That's wonderful!!! You are the MH sleep guru! :hehe:
Does she sleep in that special rocking set thing you talked about or is it an actual bassinet? just curious. ;)

Come teach my kid :hehe: I'm so happy she is sleeping for you. This will make transitioning back to work that much easier!

Leah, she's in the rock n play sleeper that I posted about. I plan to transition her to the crib as soon as I get cohen in his big boy room. That is going to happen in the next month or so. Has talon started sleeping in his bed yet? I'd love to know how you did it if so because this scares the crap out of me. I've tried to get him to nap in his and it didn't go well.

I'm so going to invest in that rock n play! :p
Yes, Talon is in his big boy bed. I was terrified and he has had no problems at all. About three weeks before we switched I let him have a pillow in his crib to get used to that and to try and start sleeping in one direction. Well he sometimes uses the pillow and sometimes not. I also put his new "big boy" sheets and stuff on his crib at that time. Later once we set up the car bed he was soooo excited. The very first night he had a little bit of a hard time going to sleep. He wasn't crying or trying to get out of bed, but he wasn't sleeping. I think he went to bed at 9 and didn't fall asleep until almost midnight, but like I said he wasn't complaining, unhappy, etc. Since that night he has been sleeping normally, just the same as he did in his crib. He doesn't get out of bed at all so far, at least until I come in in the morning. He will even wake up in the morning and stay in his bed for 30-45 mintues until I come in; once he sees me he knows it's ok to climb out. He was like this in his crib too, happy being in there with his blankies and stuffed animals just playing for like an hour and not wanting to get out.
I do have a video camera in his room and the first night I pretty much watched him until he went to sleep or kept checking every few minutes. If I saw him stand up in bed I went in and gave him the "mommy look" :hehe: and told him to lay down and that it's time for sleep. He did and like I said, he doesn't try to get out (I did child proof the knob though..just in case) . If I ever notice him standing in his bed before he falls a sleep, I will go in and sternly tell him to lay down. ;)
Anyway, I hope it goes as smoothly for you! Maybe you should get Cohen a car bed too. :hehe: I swear that is what really helped make the transition so easy.

Well we already have the bed in there and it's not a toddler bed, it's a twin captain's bed. I've been wishing that I had done the toddler bed because I think it would be easier to transition, but oh well. I think I'll try nighttime sleep in there instead of naps first. I'm thinking that might work better for him.

Heather, just a warning... When I start working on a sleep routine with Thomas I'm going to start a thread an "Ask Heather" thread so I can throw questions at a pro. :hehe:
