View Full Version : Fear of Shopping Carts
I am not kidding.
Matthew no refuses to sit in a cart. It's horrible. The screaming, turning red, fist clenching toddler looks like a freak if I try to get him into one. I can't do anything. i even hold him and sit his butt on the handle and he freaks out.
I noticed lately that separation anxiety is at it's highest lately. I have no idea why either :sigh:
I was going to use the Ergo but heard it's really uncomfortable for a side carry so I don't know what to do. I need to go food shopping. I can't not go. :sigh:

I got lucky and Addie starts pointing at them all excited when we walk in.
Have you tried the ones that have the kid seat or look like cars or anything? Does he react the same way? Not the safest thing, but...have you tried putting him in the cart part? Sometimes if I'm taking too long and Addie gets tired of sitting in the front, I put her in the back and she holds on to the sides (while seated) and it buys me a little more time.

Yeah I tried that and he equally freaked out.

Isabella tolerates it... for about 10 minutes. Which is why I make Josh come grocery shopping iwth me so he can carry her around the store for me.

is this why you want to get the baby carrier? Or does he want to be held all day long?
YOu can get a wrap instead of a carrier

DD tolerates it...Sometimes she gets a bit fussy and I stand her in the back...She can't stand on her own yet but she holds on the the sides and cruises around back there...It keeps her busy...You just kind of have to stack your groceries in the front and in one place in the back...:hehe: And sometimes she'll sit back there and play with the groceries, throw them out of the cart, whatever she pleases...:hehe:

Averie will NOT tolerate a wrap anymore, no matter which configuration we try she can't stand the confinement.
Thanks Sandy. I had that and actually sold it because it's awful! I can't tell you how awful it is.
He just wants to be held so I need something that will make it a bit easier on my arms.
Oh I bought a Maya wrap or sling no clue for 35 bux :)

If you figure out how to fix that please let me know. Maddy is HORRIBLE to take anywhere that she needs to be in a cart. So, if I can I wait until Mike either goes with me or can watch her. It's too stressful to either fight her to stay in the cart, or chase her cause she won't walk next to me.

Averie is getting that way too. Her favorite thing lately is to help me push the cart. I always just have to allow extra time to get through the store and figure in the arguments, chasing and waiting for her to push the cart.

Maddy pushes the cart sometimes. She stands directly in front of me and pushes on the bottom of the cart. Keeps her occupied until she sees something she needs to touch or yank off a shelf.
