Isabella had her 18mo well check today (a little early but we'll be out of the country when she's 18mos). It was perfect except 1 thing, they discovered a heart murmur. They're not sure why it wasn't ever picked up until today but they'[re going to monitor it. They'll reevaluate it at 2 years. They said most times they will just resolve themselves and they figure this is the case. No use running off to a cardiologist this early.

Otherwise she is 20lbs 13oz :hehe: Just a tiny peach. 8% for weight. 25% for height and 50% for head circumference. Her head has always been much bigger then the rest of her, my little golfball on a toothpick.

He said she looks great and that she's hitting and surpassing all her milestones and was REALLY impressed that she could point to 11 body parts when asked to point to them. He said at her age most kids know 1 or 2, but she knows: head, eyes, nose, ears, mouth, chin, shoulders, fingers, toes, and tummy and knees are a hit and miss.

We also talked about my pregnancy and told me what I can do now to help the baby (which is what I was already doing like folic acid, DHA, etc.). We also talked about Isabella still nursing and he totally encouraged me to continue as long as she wanted and thought that tandem nursing was great and has fond mamories (haha mamories) of his wife tandem nursing 2 of his kids. He said when my milk turns to colostrum she may start having diarrhea b/c colostrum is a natural laxitive but not to worry as long as everything else is normal.

We talked about toddler discipline and how he has a no spanking preference, which is really nice because I get SO much flack from people when they find out that we practice gentle discipline and it's nice to now have the "medical community" card in my back pocket to play if I need it.

He also enrouaged me to keep her rear facing until 2 or whenever she reaches the limit (which will be kindergarten at this rate). I'm always so encouraged when I see him. It's nice to know I'm not a freak for my not always mainstream views when it comes to parenting.

Anyway... taht was long winded :hehe:

Um I need your pedi!!

That is awesome about the nursing. Our pedi has never brought up discipline and I'll be damned if she tells me anything regarding spanking.

Anyways yay for Isabella :hula:

Oh and I just wanted to add that I hope the murmur is nothing and goes away. My mom has had one for about 60 years now. Though she's irritating she's perfectly fine :hugs:

Sounds like a great appt! She's getting so grown up sounding with all that things she knows! I'm impressed with her word knowledge! :D

My hubby had a murmur as a child and it went away on his own. He had some diet restrictions as a child, but that was his only problem.

So I had a question tho... You get flack for NOT spanking? What the? To me that's so weird. We don't spank and no one has ever questioned that? I'm no opposed to TELLING William that what he's done is not good, but I'm not really ok with spanking or physical teaching.

Who's giving you flack?

:hehe: lol sorry...I just dont get it!

Not so much flack as "if you don't spank she'll run the house" or "you'll spank eventually, you'll never be able to discipline her otherwise and she'll be a terror" type comments

I've never had any doctor tell me about spanking and whatnot  Odd doctors over there. Even family and friends don't mention it. I've never hit her, don't plan on it. It's just not an issue for us.

I'm so glad she is doing well! I really hope the murmur fixes itself by two and you have nothing to worry about!

That's awesome your pedi is so behind your choices. Not that you need him to be but I'm sure it's comforting!
