Still trying to get the hang of it. I'm not a big fan of whipping my boob out in front of everyone, so I try to discreetly cover, but with baby not staying latched I have to continually relatch him it makes it very difficult. Any ideas??

Get a nursing cover, one with the stiff top that allows you to look down and see him. That way you can latch him on without having to flash your nipple to the world. :twothumbs:

Great idea! Messing with blankets is annoying. Once he gets better at staying latched, you will be a nursing ninja in no time!:))

I just adjusted as needed with a light cover over me. If I had to redo the cover then I did.
I almost bought one of those cool nursing covers with a strap that went around my neck but nursing out of the house didnt happen often enough for me to want to spend the money for it(even tho they were so cute!).

Oh I bought a 9 dollar cover from Walmart. It looks like a poncho and I loved it. I used it a few times.

We used those same kind of covers and I also often utilized dressing rooms or sometimes would nurse in the car. ;)

I have a Hooter Hider and a Baby Au Lait, and a mama-made one. They are all a waste, honestly. They all have stiff tops, but for some reason, they still don't work. I gave up and stopped using them. I'm glad I did. After the 3rd or 4th time of NIP without a cover, I realized it's much easier. We had latch issues and that's why it was easier for us. I just use an undershirt. I pull up my top shirt and pull down my undershirt from the neck. It keeps everything covered, except for my nipple. I have big boobs, too, and it works fine for me.

That's my idea. :hula:

Yeah that!! :ditto:

I have an udder cover and LOVE it. I kept one in the diaper bag and one in the "diaper cabinet" at home in case we had company (I prefer to cover up in that instance at home) and it has the boning on top that allows me to look down but no one else can see but me.

I do the same thing but I have small boobs and it works for me. :hehe: I bought some cheap, stretchy tank tops that I wear under my shirts. I just pull the tank down under my boob, unclip my bra and pop Thomas on. My flabby belly is nicely hidden and I don't have to try to maneuver around a cover. :twothumbs:

I lived in the Target nursing tanks for the first 6 months. In the first few months I tried to nurse right before leaving the house, in the car or in a dressing room. William would always unlatch a ton of times and it was annoying. Plus I had a huge letdown and would spray everywhere!! :hehe: I tried not to nurse with a cover if possible. If I did, I used a big blanket, an Aden & Anais muslin blanket. They're great once you get the hang of it.

Cheryl,

I just bought one of these: http://babyhalfoff.com/index.php/ Maybe it'll help!

Emily is 9 weeks old. And as much as my husband insists that getting a cover would help, I haven't. I had to deal with an inverted nipple for the first 4 weeks...and it was horrible, so Emily still has issues latching on at times on my left side. So I take advantage of the Babies R Us Mother's room when we are at that end of town, dressing rooms or I nurse in the back seat of my Subaru...I do as Rebekah does, wear a second shirt and just pull it down leaving only my nipple exposed....now if I could only find a nursing bra that fit me and my huge jugs comfortably! :hehe:

I like the the shirt thing. I've been doing that as well. Until it got to be 90 degrees today. Ugh. Too hot for 2 shirts! I ended up just throwing a receiving blanket over my shoulder. Well, DH did. Nursing in public does not really bother me this time around (it did more with Duncan).

Well I bought a large and if I don't like it I'll be happy to mail it to you. (if a large is your size!)

FYI- I found nursing covers similar to the bebe au lait ones on etsy for half the cost. I bought one from this seller, but there are tons to choose from. I really like the one I got! It's really pretty and works great.
