Yesterday Sadie walked by something and threw it on the floor. I then told her to pick it up and she just kept on walking. So I took her by her arm and brought her back and said please pick it up. Nothing... so i put her in time out and she walked away. Then dh picked her up and put her in time out and she flipped out I mean cried like a baby. She was there for a while and then i told her to come take a bath and she continued to cry through the bath.

I then put her in my bed and she cried and cried (while watching herself cry in the mirror). I then went in there with a book and started to read to her she fell asleep.

I just can't believe she just flipped out like this. I am so tired of these meltdowns. Does this happen often at your house?

It hasn't happened yet, but I know it's common from my cousin's children. They always wrote it off as trying to push their buttons.

Alexis has definitely been through plenty of those meltdowns. Stand your ground, don't lose you cool and stay in control of your own actions to get the point across to her that you WILL NOT tolerate this. Definitely sounds like a combination that we've seen many times in this house; fatigue/sleepiness mixed with boundary pushing. As long as you don't lose you cool then she won't "win" and should move on to another way to push your buttons soon enough. I am only half kidding about that last part ;)

:support: Good luck and so far in my experience this is a total "girl thing".

Is it PMS early? Just wondering. :hugs:

We just have the regular toddler meltdowns.

I think she is just testing her boundaries and seeing how far she can push you and manipulate the situation. It may be just one of those "developmental phases' that children go through but it totally sounds like its more of a girl thing than a boy thing if you catch my drift.
